Dirty air has been overpowered for way too long and it completely ruins races and the physics in general.
Only recently we have discovered (I think we are right any way) that with this 0km/h wind bug that's been happening for the last month, racing has improved immensely. Cars can tailgate each other, and if you are faster than someone you can actually stick close enough to them to make a pass on them almost the first time you get DRS on them without having to waste your kers in the process. When cars are equal pace aswell, they trade positions almost every lap and actually have a really intense battle for 10+ laps on end.
With wind, the dirty air is just silly. Even if you are two laps lighter than someone with a better driver and a better car, you can barely get close enough to DRS them unless you use KERS in combination. You generally fall back into a 1.2-1.5 second window where your driver just follows them around at the same pace as they are doing. It just isn't balanced right and needs to be addressed, but I imagine thats quite a lengthy (and not easy) task.
So for now my suggestion is remove it completely. Unless ofcourse I am entirely wrong and removing wind isn't an easy task lol.

You mean wind as in wind on the circuit that goes a direction? I've never really noticed that really, but if it does what you say it does I'm for your suggestion as it would improve gameplay.

I think reducing DRS and making it worthwile to overtake on other places than just under DRS would be a better way to actually improve racing.

I don't really know the logic behind it, I just know that for the last month we've had 0km/h winds nearly every race and when this happens dirty air that we always complain about almost doesn't exist.
It's so much better lol.

I'm not sure about the wind/dirty air relationship. I have never taken any notice of wind speed/direction. But on some tracks YES the dirty air effect is too strong. And it seems more so in slow corners rather than fast ones which is back to front.
I'm with John on the DRS. It's 'effectiveness' needs to be somewhere between where it was and where it is now. It rarely pays to overtake anywhere else on the track other than the DRS zone unless you are immensely faster than the other car.

With 0 kph of wind, the race is so much more intense at every place like Jason. Of course, it will never prevent the guy with the most advanced car to run away, but at least with a good strategy you might make him nervous...
Cars which are a few percent of each other fight like crazy every lap, and you really need to focus all your attention, because one lap you could be 2nd the next you are down in 6th. Not because of the DRS only but the fact that you can really stay close to the guy in front of you the whole lap.
So, yes I find that it improves gameplay a lot. I tend to think that sometimes you have to stray a little away from realism (pit rape, 5/5 not able to overtake 1/5, ...) to improve the gameplay and make the game more fun.

I never thought wind affected any of the racing, let alone the game having 'dirty air'. That has never felt apparent to me.
On another investigative discovery I find somewhat related:
I've noticed cars gain or increase gaps on straightaways depending on both car's tire condition (heat & wear). If two cars have the same amount of fuel, push-level, and one car has extremely hot/cold tires vs another at optimal.... It's not about the speed both cars are cornering allowing them to increase/decrease gaps before the straightaway -- it seems. At China's back-staight, if you match the speeds of both cars you will notice this effect is so great to make up a 1 second gap (without drs or kers). I personally find the whole tire heating system severely wrong, since all of what I have said should have no effect whatsoever on straightline speed. And personally, I do not think tires should be increasing their temperature as quickly as they do on straights, and not be cooling down on cornering. Backwards.

So you actually enjoy the game more if there is no wind? Suggestion here.

Correct.
Without wind, the racing is far more realistic.
