I have been getting poor race starts for as long as I can remember. It doesn't matter what tyres I'm on or how much fuel I have, I will still lose between 5-10 positions in the first 3 laps. The most I have ever lost was 18 even though I was on equal fuel and tyres as everyone else. Because of this, my race is essentially over but I'm still on pace with the top guys and normally I make most the positions up again by the end of the race.

What push level are you on when the race starts?

How are you developing your car? I've known dirty air to be quite a big factor in races starts.

Yeah my car is near the best on all the important factors. I know I've got a fast car because I qualify good and I'm good throughout the race but I just lose so many positions at the starts.

Hi Matt, from what you've said i can only think it's down to push levels. Always, always start the race on PL5 until the tyres are at the optimum operating temperature, just on the red line. The circuit, temperature and tyres determine how long you can do it before having to go to usual push levels. Hope this helps

I do start on pl5 and always make sure my tyres don't overheat. People still overtake me though.

Have you ever lost more than 3 positions when starting on pole?

Got a bad start again today. Lost 5 positions which doesn't sound like a lot but I started 24th. The car behind me gained 10 positions even though we had the same amount of fuel. I don't understand the randomness to it.

Then the only possibilities as far as i can see could be driver stats, both the ones you can see and the hidden stats that you can't. I had 2 pretty much identical drivers for 8 or 9 seasons, each had stronger circuits, one was brilliant on SS tyres and the other was brilliant on mediums. Maybe your driver has a hidden weakness on race starts... I'm only guessing, but i hope you get to the bottom of it ?

Get rid of Durrand Matt! That is the only common factor, that Antoine sold you a pup! ?‍♂️?
Look at the difference with my qualifying/results since I dropped the other driver. Nearly the same stats but behave totally differently, even their setups are different.
EDIT: This is my other account btw!

There are definitely hidden stats for drivers that give them individual strengths and weaknesses.  I currently have a Mclaren 2007 situation, with a rookie Brit against an experienced Spainard. The rookie has slightly better mental stats, but it's 4 experience vs 19 or 20. They've been neck and neck all season, which tells me the Brit will ultimately be a better driver.

I'm kinda reluctant to do that since he got a lot of points last season (and my second win in this league). However he still hasn't maxed his experience so I might let that raise a bit and see if he improves or not. If not ill just replace him with another driver I've trained up.

It sounds like you've got a guy with good race performance at the cost of ultimate speed at maximum pl, which isn't too bad but in a competitive league it's such a disadvantage. I'd stick with him until experience is maxed and see how he goes.
