I have this happen from time to time, but I only notice it when I'm not double boosting

It is a problem that unfortunately can happen immediately after having connection problems. The advice I can give you is to exit the live race and re-enter immediately, better to lose a few seconds than to suffer similar bugs during the continuation of the race.
