What happened instead?
Carried on for one more lap and ran out of fuel.
Planned a stop at the end of Lap 26, started that lap with 3.1litres [a lap used 1.7ish] so at some point during that lap I would have had <1laps worth of fuel - and surely should have pitted. However I started Lap 27 with 1.4litres so ran out of fuel a few corner before the pitlane entrance.
