Introducing Retro B.O.T F1 World iGP

This is something a bit different, in that there are no active players involved in the championship, all teams are controlled and setup by myself and the race is controlled by the games simulation, I do not log into the races.

The championship is based on the early 1990’s F1 Seasons with most of the teams/driver combos being from 1991 with a few others from other years that I chose.

I did this league originally for myself as I love late 80’s & early 90’s F1 from when I grew up and wanted to do it just for some fun seeing all the proper car livery’s and teams and drivers but when some others from my main leagues discord channel saw it they wanted to watch the races and have championship updates of it, it was suggested to me that others outside the F1 World iGP league’s discord community maybe interested to follow, this certainly won’t be for everybody.

The car designs I base off the teams real world performance from the past, the McLaren’s/Ferrari’s & Williams have the most design points and the Simtec’s and others have the least, the ones with powerful engines get the highest accell design and the sweet handing cars get the higher handling/downforce etc, the thirsty V12’s struggle a bit with fuel econ and the V8’s have better FE, the strategy’s I try to mix them up where possible but some tracks it just only 1 strategy that works, sometimes some drivers strategy’s don’t work out well and there teammate wins or random backmarker team but that’s just how plays out especially as I don’t know the best strategy’s following the most recent game update, rain races not much fun due to no DRS and idiotic kers use.

We are currently towards the end of Season 3 and you can see the finale to the season if you wish, next season the races will be on Wednesdays, Fridays & Sundays at 5.30pm UK time.
The league is password protected to stop random people joining and spoiling it, I will post the live race link on this forum thread when I have it.

If I’m too busy and don’t have enough time to get 30 drivers setup I may occasionally have to postpone the races till the next date

You can see a short video of one of the most recent races below recorded by Juanito in 3D to show you how it looks.

This is a really cool idea. Did you grind all of the accounts to level 20 before ou put them all in this league?

Great work William, it’s not my cup of tea but I can see how people would love it, it’s immersive.

Just a little thing: the onboard view: I reckon on 1 speed it would be even more realistic.

Carry on W

@Ethan Munir

Yeah they are all my teams that i gradually built up.

@Slo Bro

That tracks weird (belgium) its like x3.0 speed at moment its to fast so is next one in Australia so might be good idea to slow it down a bit.

-------------------------------------
trying to work out the strategys on these new tracks for BOT races is causing issues at moment bit of a lottery.

Nice work William..I see more or less the usual suspects up at the front as in '91

Patrese and the midfield to backmarker drivers should perhaps not be 20 talent..good drivers on their day though.

And how are the design points distributed for each team? Have Williams been saving their points for the late season charge? :)

yeah its tricky with the talent as 20's were what ive used before this league, i would have re-train up new drivers for lower talent, ive been adjusting drivers speed with the car design then if one driver had a big edged over teammate in real life i adjust there setup by 1 or 2 values in the  wing level/ride height to balance it out which usually slows them down a small amount (although sometimes this makes them quicker with wrong setup ;) haha), but i dont do this every race as all drivers back then could beat there teammate on there best day.

And how are the design points distributed for each team? Have Williams been saving their points for the late season charge? :)

the design i base off what i remember them being like at the time, i grew up back then & have recorded almost every race on video tape from 1989-1994 then in later years i copied them to DVD via a vhs to dvd recorder so i still have them and watched them a lot over the years. for example Mclaren have highest accelleration as it was obvious they were fastest in straight line, Benetton lacked power but had an very good handling car with great fuel econemy, Williams are strong in all areas with a balanced design etc etc etc, Mclaren/williams/Ferrari have joint most design points but in different areas then it filters down, some tracks i give certain cars a boost in design as they are fast at those circuits, Leyton house were always super fast in Paul Ricard and should of won in 1990 so they get extra dp for that track etc, im still adjusting things as i go as sometimes the gap between the best cars and slowest is too big so the 4 best teams finish in top 8 ever race then i try to close it up like the end of this season and they probably get to close.

Terrible race for the Maclaren duo 0 points that could cost them the title. Also you already have the stats for wins pole positions are you planning to do a leader board?

Sorry been so busy that only just saw this..

yeah that race was a bit of a mess as the game decided to not pit half the cars on there proper laps (Spain is bugged with this problem) and they went one lap to long each stint and ran out of fuel in the last sector, Senna was the worst effected as he ran out of fuel 3 times, they all crossed the line with around 1.8 litres of fuel on a 2.3 litres per fuel lap, big loss in points for both driver and team.

you mean a wins, podiums, stats leaderboard?

More ridiculous not pitting running out of fuel ruined the final 2 races and cost Senna dearly, sort it out iGP!
