I suggest if there was a team to go bankrupt and reach 0 dollars or negative balance, it would fold and no longer race, like in IRL F1. What do you think? Also, in financial difficulties, it should also fold.

This doesn't happen in real life. Why should it here?

All teams run on negative and
Still stay open. To close a team on a game would just be unfair

There should be some penalty like a transfer embargo, parts or engine stock freeze but a shutdown is too harsh.
I think you’d be surprised at the amount of teams running in or near debt

Teams would only shut down, in real life, once their debt becomes unsustainable.  Seeing that an unsustainable debt is a relative thing, then it would be up to the manager in debt to quit the game imo...

Williams was in debt but got out of it.

No, while money isn't that hard to manage in iGP there are phases in the game where it's invested as quickly as earned and thus not millions of reserve available to buffer a slight oversight or unexpected things like 2+ races have to be missed with sponsors running out after the first. People would then loose teams due to a few bucks in negative despite having millions in value in HQ and drivers.

Returning players recovered from debts of quite high millions, thus not really bancrupt even then. So the inability to do huge investments when not able to pay for it is enough, with the exception of level 20 which could use something to keep investing perhaps.

This isn’t a great idea and will drive a lot of new players out of the game.  Players still growing tend to struggle financially especially when they reach Elite as they often won’t be competitive against those that have reached level 20.  By forcing them to go bankrupt and shut down will mean they leave the game so where is the fun is this?

Also, there is no need for a transfer embargo as teams in debt can’t buy new drivers or staff anyway.

There should always be a second chance

I would suggest two options for managers in a financial hole. The first option - the team receives 50 million credits, 25 tokens, but loses 10 levels, one driver and staff leave the team as free agents. The second option - the team receives 100 million, 50 tokens, but drops to the first level, both drivers and staff also leave as free agents

In both cases, the managers has the opportunity to start almost all over again. Without repeating past mistakes. A special button "declare bankruptcy" will help them to choose one of the ways out of a difficult financial situation

Strange that you haven't talked about ghost teams yet. Whose owners have long forgotten about the game, or even completely uninstalled it years ago. But excellent pilots and staff cannot move to other teams. Because contracts with it. Introduce such a rule - if a team does not participate in even quick races for a month, it closes, and its pilots and staff become free agents

I like the idea of leaving as a free agent but the money would be too much. How about 20-25 million. But what about teams with one driver in one car leagues

I see too many unworkable ideas in this thread and penalising players in debt is ridiculous since  they are already in a position so that they can’t hire new staff or upgrade their headquarters!

Also most ppl don’t go bankrupt (technically just in debt as impossible to go bankrupt in iGP) through making mistakes it is normally becuase they get promoted too quickly and end up elite divisions with managers of far higher abilities amd experience.  This is made worse by the game giving them impossible race targets to achieve (whats the point in asking say the 14th ranked manager in a 16 team league to finish 7th or above?

There should be a minimum level for promotion from Pro to Elite (say level 16, although even then they will likely finish way behind the higher level players). And the algorithim which decides on race targets should be tweaked to give more achieveable targets (not soft ones, but stetched targets that are achievable through good strategy).

Agreed, 20-25 millions + 25 tokens but the team goes down 10 levels, one driver and staff go free. Another option - 50 millions + 50 tokens, but team becomes 1 level, and one driver and staff go free

Of course one driver stay with team in both options. Because an excellent driver becomes the only opportunity to quickly return to the top

Nowhere in this thread is there any justification or benefit provided as to why this is a good idea 😂
