I would like to suggest a new league option: different eras. With this option the league host can select an era, all races in the next season wil take place in that era. I was thinking of these eras:

The present
1990’s
1970’s
1950’s
Interbellum (which obviously would be my era of choice)

For this to work, each era should need

A) a specific font and minor layout changes to be in line with design trends in that era

B) one or two tracks, specific for that era, these tracks are not playable in other eras

C) each era would need a different car model, meaning livery editor and 3 or 2d rendering of the car in live race to make it realistic for that era

D) sponsor and suppliers would have to be correct and different for each era, this makes the car model even more realistic as it is also specific for that era

E) maybe driver hats and accessories like the flying helmet for interbellum era

F) if there would ever be a trophy case, different trophies for different eras

I make these suggestions because these are visual additions, they don’t tamper with the race simulator.

This would ask for some work to be done on the car models and on tracks, but in turn it will make igp a unique game, even more immersive, it will attract more then the formula one fans while keeping all the good elements the game already has.

It’s a serious suggestion, I wouldn’t want the feature to become a gimmick, it should be as grown up as the game is today.

This seems like an awful lot of effort for the game developers to work on, for what will very likely be a very limited upside gain.

Afterall, how many existing players, or any potential new players wanting to play the game out there, will remember the drivers and styles from the 1930s and 1950s? A very small and insignificant percentage no doubt (perhaps c. < 0.1%)

These time resources, which have to be careful managed and prioritised by iGP Games (which is a small games studio, operating on c. 1% of the budget of rival app games studios) will be better served on improving more important, current, existing issues such as game stability, and improving and adding current and existing tracks, and ensuring those are accurately depicted. Game issues which have been known for many years.

Off course existing bug squashing has to be top priority, that’s what we all want. When those are fixed and igp takes off, as Jack described, I believe this is a viable option.

The big work on 3D is over, next up is bug squashing, then new tracks (I hope so) and why not add some old tracks alongside the ones used now in f1.

I do believe the eras thing creates a whole new experience, building upon the game we know now, thus doesn’t take too much effort. It’s just the rendering of the era cars, the rest uses what the game already offers.

About the number of players, you will attract new players, it’s not only about existing players. And I do believe there is a market for this.

Anyway, it’s just a suggestion

Interesting idea. But for this all they need to create a new game

Everything can be done much easier. First, new models based on the cars of the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s. And new templates for the liveries of these cars

Secondly, new design of the tracks, for example, background trucks, trailers and cars corresponding to one or another era. And a couple of promotional posters like Martini, Gulf Oil, etc. Even change the screen resolution to mimic old broadcasts

Thirdly, introduce a couple of forgotten tracks, such as Kyalami or Targa Florio

And before the start of the season, the moderator and managers choose the era of interest to them. With matching cars, liveries, tracks, decorations, posters, etc. All this can be done within a certain league - from Rookies to the Elite

In the one league players drive cars from the 90's with matching decorations, advertisements and tracks. In a different league, Rookies, Pro and Elite fight for the champion title in cars and on tracks from the 60's

Basically, for the people who have created the best F1 game ever, it will not be difficult to recreate retro cars and vintage versions of the current circuits, and return the forgotten Grand Prix of yesteryear. Even simulate the picture quality of vintage racing broadcasts. But the last and decisive word will remain with them
