Just finished a race where one of the opponents qualified in p19 and p20 on soft tires. But started the race on Inters in p4 and p5. How is this possible to start 15 places above where you qualified? I'm fairly new, so how is this achieved?

That is what position you were in by the end of lap 1.

Ahh ok,Thanks. So he was able to make 15 overtakes before the end of lap 1 with most of the field on inters.

I'm new, first time seeing that. Checking if it was the norm.

Most of the teams ahead have ballast and were probably offline since that’s Pro.

If he was lighter and pushed, then finishing Lap 1 P5 is possible.

Ohh ok.  Actually he was about 3 to 5 laps heavier than everyone else.

About 5 were online.

Still, the ballast is basically a pace killer.

Maybe he had a wet setup and the others were dry

He qualified on softs, see the screenshots.

Seems it was better to qualify in 19 and 20 on SOFTS. Than to have a wet setup and inters. Most of the cars had inters, many practiced and about 5 others were online.

From what im understanding this is normal for this game.

But I will be trying to reproduce this in future to see if there's some benefit to qualifying the wrong tires intentionally.
