Hi Jack,

When do you estimate that venom of Java is removed for good from this great game ?
We're all sick of it.
Thanks to it had another race ruined .
And i'm sure i'm not the only one.

An accurate answer would be nice. Not vague temporal forecasts kind of  "during 2015"...

Thanks

I'm as frustrated as you. In fact,  I have ended my subscription after 2 years until iGP starts visibly moving forward.

However, I'm sure updates will be released exactly when they are ready. And not a day before! There's no point asking for any more info than Jack has already provided in the blog posts. He probably wants to be rid of Java even more than you and the rest of us.

Hey Alex,

I feel your pain, as do many others. I have a couple questions though,

1) Are you using Java 8?
2) If so, where the issues noticed before upgrading?

I know it doesnt help with your ruined race but maybe we can help you, and others, moving foward.

Also as an Engineer, its really hard to give an accurate answer to completely fair. Seems like Jack is working the best he can with what he has. Project projection dates are a lose lose for everyone. People tend to get upset, as you are, at the board forecast date provided. Which is completely reasonable. But on the other hand if he gives us a freeze date and doesnt make it because with developing/creating anything, ( what can go wrong, will go wrong) things can just flat out no work out as expected.

I must say Jack has been very transparent with what he knows and what he can provide without placing himself and his team in a corner.

Hi Paul,

1) i'm using Java 7
2) Never upgraded to Java 8.

Nevertheless, ocasionally even with Java 7 glitches occur.

Hi Alex,
Nobody is as tired of Java as we are, it continues to create work for the sake of it and cause problems at every turn. But the project to rebuild it in WebGL is a work in progress and some technical aspects / approaches are still being debated, meaning there's no way to set a hard date.

That means we'll be with Java for a while longer. So, I would like to ask what issue you experienced in particular? Perhaps we can address it in an interim Java 8 patch.

Hi Jack,

I'm in a league with Alex, and I think we're having some of the same issues, but apparently for different reasons.

I am using Java 8. Java 7 does not work at all on my machine for IGP, through firefox, chrome, or IE. I get a black screen for 15 or 20 minutes, and that's it. I can at least get the races to open using java 8.

Getting them to open isn't the problem, but doing anything regarding modifying the appearance onscreen is totally useless. As soon as I try to change to the detailed timing view, it locks up (19 times out of 20). If I open the chat window, and accidently move it, it locks up. If I look at it funny, it locks up. If I talk nicely to it, it locks up.

There hasn't been a race yet that I haven't had to re-open the window at least 2 or 3 times, for ridiculous reasons such as those above. To put it bluntly, Java is shit. I am a marine operations manager, and if I had something within my system that worked as poorly as that, it gets tossed very quickly.

Now, all of that said, it completely depends on the computer that is running java. I have an older laptop that runs java 8, and I have absolutely no issues with anything game related. It seems that the app really doesn't like windows 8.1 (but, really, do any of us??). I am constantly awaiting the updated game, and pay for the subscription to do my little part to help it along in hopes of finally being clear of java.

I know that I probably have not provided any additional information to what you guys had, but I feel better getting it off my chest. :)

Hi Joel, this is exactly the issue we're aware of which I was referring to in the other thread. The fix is already done for what you are experiencing (it was completed today), we're just waiting to see if we can pile it together with re-enabling the weather before launching it. Either way, you can expect it to be fixed before the week is over.
