Yesterday during my race, the 2d was not in sync with the timing:

see here

drivers were not in the right position relative to each other (the selected driver is my driver who is in 1st place, my other driver, in 4th place is in front of her on the 2d)

drivers were not in the correct part of the circuit (you can see the drs on some of the drivers while they are not in the 2d on the straight line with drs zone)
I tried to use a different browser, clear the java cache, reboot and to update java to lastet version, nothing changed.

This was totally unplayable.

That also happened to me at the last day of my subscription - maybe it was the last day of your subscription?

Hi Clement, that's odd. So no matter how many times you refreshed the viewer it remained this way?

Also, was the issue consistent? Did the same drivers always show in the same places? Was your driver in 4th always showing ahead of your driver in 1st every time you reconnected? If not, how much did it change by each time?

That won't have any factor in the connection to the server.

But that also happened to Simon Thornes at the last day of his subscription:

Maybe I'm wrong, but: that seems to be systemic to me.
Maybe the date that 2D-Viewer is allowed to start is not synchron to the date that the backend is allowed to send data to the 2D Viewer...
In my case the timetable was fine, but the positions in the 2D viewer have been pure fantasy.
Just an idea to investigate from the view of an outsider - no matter if I'm wrong.

I'm glad you brought that up again, I think you're on to something and had an insight reading your post. I had to remember a bunch of odd things that wouldn't seem connected on the surface, spanning months, to figure it out. It's most likely old code clashing with new code in two places (code updated in one area of the game and not in another). It would create a perfect storm where on the last day of a subscription, the car animations could permanently utilise a simulation mode designed for intervals of packet-loss, which doesn't use the data from the server. The live timing would still be using the correct data, which is how they would go out of sync. It's a funny one... but it makes perfect sense.

I've just emailed the viewer developer and pointed them straight to the theoretical solution (assuming my educated guess as to the cause is correct - which I'm fairly sure of), so hopefully it won't take long for a fix. Thanks again J, these are very useful posts. :)

So, it was indeed the last day of my subscription! I was a bit annoyed that it auto renewed the day just after that happened :) (on a side note, maybe sending an email a week or so before the auto renewal date would be good, most subscription service do so)

Yesterday's race went fine, so that seems like a strong clue on what was going on.

And everytime I refreshed I kind of remember the postion on the viewer to be mostly the same, but can't confirm 100%. But the synchronization with the timetable was different (the DRS zone "moved" every refresh)

I'm glad someone else has seen the same issue, at the time I thought I was going mad :D
And it's been fine since that day, sounds like Jack has it all in hand so hopefully wont happen next year!

We identified the issue, it was what I suspected. This was patched across the service yesterday and it should not happen again.

Thanks to everyone for the clear information that helped us to identify the problem. :)

It has recently happened to me today.

There's one point that all cars either flying into the pits or driving like they are beating the speed of sound (Germany)

At the end of the race, the cars didn't finish at the finish line, but on the final corner.

Race ID: 508954

Subscription: Monthly, and it will bill me again on August 8.
