Hi guys, relative newbie here in need of a bit of guidance. Not matter what i do, bar backing off completely, i cant seem to stop my tyres from overheating. With a push rating of "hold position" in the recent auz GP my tyres were starting to go red within the first half a lap on softs at the start of my second stint. they were glowing bright red within 3 laps, but to my dismay i look up and see the leader on his 6th lap with nicely temped SS tyres that were 6 laps old...is there a simple explanation to this? is it purely to do with an under developed car, or my lowly level (6) or is there a bigger flaw to it? i have tried a number of engine/fuel/tyre supplier combinations yet cant seem to crack it yet. assistance apprciated!!

I wouldn't take much notice of what the push levels say. Think of it as 1/5 2/5...5/5
Depending on track temperature, soft tyres would usually be a 2/5 push level.

Lots of unknowns here as only you know your drivers stats the track temp and you're tyre supplier selection.
But you sort of answered yourself.
In Australia
Back off is the push limit you want for Super Soft
Back off then once tyres start to wear and cool change to Hold back for Soft
Hold back & hold is for Meds
Hold & Push for Hards
Push hard for me is only ever used on the pit in lap and out lap to get the tyres up to speed.

is there a way of finding the track temp or is that the temp given on the weather station during the race?

Just the weather temp :)

cool. so i am therefore assuming that these "push levels" will differ slightly depending on tracks and temps....the far east races would differ to the european tracks for example.

All boils down to the weather, track wear level & Tyre Supplier, the lower the temp does not mean you can slap on hards and push hard I have tried it lol

come on then James, final piece of the puzzle....best tyre supplier is.......????

And the award goes too....... The one that works best for you ;)
I would suggest using the same engine & fuel for 5 seasons,
That way you can test all the suppliers out & compare the lap times
doing this you will need to maintain current driver stats not improving them.
drivers experience you cant keep the same it will have increased by 5 or 6 by the 5th season & it gives a boost to drivers driving so allow for it when comparing lap times
