Our new season started with the 3 new rule change options in effect. My cars were fast in practice (1st & 4th) and Qually (2nd & 3rd). Then the race started and I was extremely slow. When I looked at the tire and fuel info after race, it said 1 car had 20.7 liters still in car when race ended. The other had 20.6. Does anybody know why this happened? I thought these new fuel rules were going to make things simpler regarding fuel, but that wasn't the case in my 1st experience.  Thanks for any information as I feel it will probably happen again tomorrow unless I do something different like put less fuel per stint and then manually cancel the pits which may be hazardous also.

You should calculate the amount of fuel you will use in race and set that amount in advance strategy. That way you’ll be lighter and faster. It’s a balancing act because if you’re too light, you’ll obviously run out of fuel.

Thanks, I see now! We have to look at previous race results and calculate the fuel that way I suppose.

You can use practice lap fuel consumption data to calculate total amount of fuel. add or substract a few liters from that because of push level.

Is it known what push level is used for practice laps? If it's neutral, but I know I'll be using low/very low push levels, during a race in hot weather on softer compound tires, I could drop some fuel to save weight.

Practice is push level 3
