Each league has it's own pool of drivers.
16 teams 3 tiers that's a pool of 96 drivers to choose from.
If test drivers are added makes it up to a pool of 144 driver to negotiate with.

At the end of the season the teams in the league release their drivers into the pool.
Teams have to try and out bid each other to try and land the drivers services.
Maybe that would allow for offering other teams drivers contracts throughout the season & trying hire them in advance.
Teams can offer a driver contracts between 1-3 seasons there is no renewing the contract once it's completed the driver re-joins the pool, you can not offer them a contract again until a full season has past.

Once a driver retires a new younger driver steps in to their place, all be it he will have zero experience and people will likely not want him but if the drivers experience was changed, it will soon get the driver trained up.

1% gain every time a driver joins a new team at end of their first season.
1% gain for completing 2 seasons with the same team.
2% gain completing 3 seasons with the same team.

Examples of drivers based on this experience points system.

Jenson Button aged 35
his career 1998-persent
8 different teams
8 points for completing 3seasons with teams
1 point for completing 2seasons with a team
17 Total experience

Fernando Alonso aged 33
his career 1999-persent
7teams
4 points completing 3seasons with teams
4 points completing 2 seasons with teams
15 Total experience

Do you still think Alonso is better than Button?
Just because he has been driving in better teams doesn't mean he is a better driver :P

Even this shows Alonso isn't as good as he is made out to be :D
He has 1point & Button has 4points, we will have to wait till the end of the season to see who is better ;)

Or has better luck ;)

I don't want to discourage you from coming up with ideas but I really don't like this one.

imo 3 seasons isn't enough to train a driver, if you do get him to a resonable level and then he's poached by a manager with a bigger wallet it would perhaps cause people to give up.

What happens when a team switches to another league?

Some players use their reward points to rename their drivers

The longer you play the bigger your wallet, new players joining rookie would be left with the worst drivers no-one else wants putting them at an even bigger disadvantage

3 season isn't enough to train a driver. No it's not but everyone in the league will be training them.

Someone switching league could throw up trouble, maybe a copy of the driver stays in the league.

Maybe driver name changes could be changed from 500 reward points to 100 or free.

As for new teams starting up there will be lots of low cost drivers with good talent so there is no real disadvantage. Their could maybe even be paying drivers added in the mix. Cause lets face it money wont last forever paying signing fees every few seasons so buying two top class drivers could leave you bankrupt, really need to balance your books and think about a number 1 & number 2 driver from time to time instead of always equals.

The word FREE in this post might start setting off alarm bells ringing in the iGP headquarters lol

James, money only matters for your first few seasons.  I am nowhere near the high end of things but I am $1B  in the bank, signing fees wouldn't put any sort of a significant dent in my finances for a very long time which means I would be able to poach the best drivers every season.

I prefer a "b" team format where you can train drivers more effectively than the YDA so when you hire them to the primary team they are closer to being ready.  Right now I run a 2nd team on a different account to pre-train drivers and am honestly getting to a point where I could use a 3rd as I have 4 level 20's and 4 level 19's (between both accounts) that are either ready to leave the YDA or close and I don't know what to do with them yet.
