I have seen a post made a few weeks ago regarding the boost/kers system, but it didn't get a lot of traction.
I want to describe my current biggest problem with the boost system to begin with:
- In our league most managers do not use boost at all or at max 5% to get DRS (which is also problematic, but that's an other topic) until the final lap, in which we burn all of the boost, because that is the most efficent in most situations. Although this usually leads to very close finishes, it is not very realistic at all, and it is also very repetitive.
I think I have found a solution that would eliminate this and would create a more realistic experience:
- A push to pass system that grants a defined amount of extra power for a defined amount of time, it could be deployed defined amount times during the race, and there would be a minimum amount of time to be passed before the system could be used again. A bit similar to how the Super Formula OTS works.
- This would eliminate all the boost being used on the final lap and it would require a more tactical approach during the race.
- This could also be easier to manage by AI for offline managers, not making them a pain in the a** like they sometimes are now with boosting erraticly and losing the active managers a lot of time by doing that. This would require the system to not be OP though, not like how boost is now.
I understand that, iGP devs are a small team. But I, with a very basic programming knowledge, do not think this would be a very difficult thing to implement, correct me though, if I am being wrong.
What are your thoughts? Do you think a system like this would be viable/or would be better than the current system?
