Would help with retention of new managers. For example in-game mail; it would be nice if I get a notification or a copy by email when managers send me mail.

Most games will provide gentle reminders by email to help increase activity. Opt-in only of course.

It’s a balance, but currently there’s really nothing in place. Ive no seen at least.

This is actually a good idea, 95% of managers quit on day one. An idea I've just had to gain their attention, automatically throw them into a league randomly so they can engage in chat

I think a reminder is good enough. I use several apps that send reminder those who opt in. This game’s retention rate for new managers is pretty bad. So this would definitely be helpful. Many I'm sure just forget their login or password. Or since races are once every 24 hours, just forget all together. Haha

I’d be pretty angry if I got emails prompting me to log in.  Notifications are fine, but emails are a step too intrusive imo

Absolutely not! This game is a largely a community. Including these very forums. Thus, the word opt-in I have mentioned now a second time.

During signup there's an option to opt-in to email notifications. So then for those with perfect memory they can opt-out. For others they can opt-in for emails beyond just setup reminders but to also include some tips to help beginners, activity reminder after missing X number of league races without login, copy or notification of direct inbox messages which I miss all the time, notifications when league host makes a new post to league.

As mentioned all can be opt-out via settings and these a just examples. It can be less or more.

Twitter and Reddit are just 2 of thousands that does this correctly with loads of opt-out options. Or opt-out from emails entirely.

Sign up for any online community running Discourse forum software for example, and you’ll quickly learn how email communications done right can significantly increase the retention of new users and their activity levels.

Is there information that would be useful for new managers before they forget about the game or lose interest waiting to fail in their the next race? Tons!!!

I'd be willing to bet devs will say they have been already working on this. Its something that takes no more that a day or two to impliment. It's time to bring IGP up to date a bit, areas like this including these very forums really reveal how long its been around.

I’d bet they won’t be.  They won’t even consider a Discord channel and already have the right under their Privacy document to send official emails to managers, but in 4 years I have received not a single one so there must be a reason why they don’t do it.

Most people who sign up and quit shortly after can’t even be bothered to learn what the game functions are.  Do you really think bombarding them with emails is going to make a difference?  I play many community based games with much bigger communities than iGP and none resort to allowing other game players to be able to spam your email account.

There is a big difference between emails from iGP (not against this and as I say above it is already covered in The games Privacy/GDPR document and TOS) and allowing other game players to do the same.  Who would legally send the email, would it be iGP or the host? Would the host see a copy with all the email details of who it was sent to?  If it was iGP auto sending on behalf of the host who ensures it is appropriate and who is responsible for GDPR?

Not sure if you are replying to my post. Just where did I mention anything about players sending emails??. Also again I said opt-in. Still you talk about spam. ???

The GDPR requires consent to be opt-in. So again opt-in communication. I don't play other games but I am part of a lot of professional and tech communities and as long as it's opt-in and useful emails, its not spam.

I would argue that the app’s push notifications (which I’ve disabled) are more annoying and disruptive since there are only so many iPhone notifications that can fit into first-glance area.

But with discussions like this I can definitely see why this will not happen if the general thought in 2022 is that opt-in email is “bombarding” and “spam”.

Sucks to be you if you get angry over an email ??
Email is a funny old thing and it can easily be marked as spam or junk,  ii had this problem with my business as we sent mail daily. It simply isn't worth it for them to send emails which will be marked as spam and won't even go into people's inboxes.

I send emails also for my business. But only about 2 to 3 times per month. The open rate is ~ 30% which we’ve been told is quite good.

If email offers valuable reminders, useful/actionable content and of course the opt-in and privacy policies are clear, then it’s not rocket science.

Email campaigns has reduced our website bounce rates as well has greatly increased the % of return visitors that would otherwise have been forgotten/lost.

As with most things, it’s about planning, balance and approach.
