Couldn't find it in a previous thread so...

Does a driver's weight have an effect on their star and driver level?

Weight is currently turned off until a future update introduces BMI.  However, it is a mistake not to train your drivers down to minimum weight.  If you don’t when it is switched back on again it will impact your speed (especially in qualifying) and it becomes more difficult to reduce weight the higher the level your driver becomes.  This is why standard strategy is to max Staminja and get weight down to minimum before doing any other type of training.

Yes, I am currently training them physically. But does it affect their level and star rating?

So just for clarity:

Your question is whether reducing the weight of your driver would increase the star rating of your driver assuming that no other stats change.

I suspect the answer is no, but it's a very difficult one to answer. I'm maybe 60% certain that the weight changing alone wouldn't trigger an update to the star rating of the driver, the same as experience increasing doesn't. But whether or not it has an impact in the background for the next time a stat changes I have no idea sorry.

Just as a note, stamina definitely triggers an update.

No, in my experience reducing weight does not increase star rating. This is why it is best to do it first, because the star rating remaining unchanged means training/weight reduction is very fast.

If you wait until everything else is trained the driver will have a 5 star rating meaning you only get 3% progress each time you press the training button. At this point it will take forever to reduce weight by (for example) 25kg.
