What about if per race you got an allocation of 5 compounds (with wets and inters being unlimited) then you chose your 5 sets (i.e. 2x ss, 1xs, 2xm) and that was your allocation for practice qualifying and race.  That could add another element of management to each race.

it would be a good idea but I think 5 would be too little to do everything since in races it is normal to use 4 tires even using only S and M so this could hinder races where the tires have difficulty heating up or in races they get too hot. It would be better if it was 8 tires and the wear from free practice and qualifying was left for the race.
and it would be better if each team could choose the tires or if the tires were pre-set according to the track.

Yep 5 was a number picked from thin air. But I think it should be up to the team manger to pick their tyre allocation it adds a whole new level of strategy and simulation

Just one problem with this, that being a suggestion similar to what is being suggested was recently marked as rejected.

I saw that suggestion however he talked about an entire season I am talking about per race basis. If we are striving for a simulation of management then this is something that in real world is common
