2010 by FAR! Big crashes, close championship (4 DRIVERS IN CONTENTION FOR GOODNESS SAKE!) and a return of a legend. 2008 second and 2006 third

Do you even watch the races? It seems all you've put in your comment is numerical statistics.

I'm going to only refer to more recent seasons as I haven't watched much older ones in detail.

The fact is I'd put 2012 over it as so many different cars raced each other and because of this there were so many different winners. And Brazil was in contention to be the best race I've ever watched.

I do agree that 2010 was excellent and a close second, perhaps slightly because the BBC commentators weren't as good as now.

2007/8 were great for wheel-to-wheel battles and had very dramatic finales, and purely because of that final corner I have to put '08 ahead of '07.

2011 was underrated for action. 2014/5 were actually fun seasons to watch on rare occasions and some of the races were some of the best of the 21st century (Canada 2014, Hungary 2014/5, USA 2015) but these didn't occur enough.

I don't get what you mean in 2006, it wasn't that good IMO. Instead I think 2009 was as good, if not better.

2006.just nostalgia. oh and 2006 brazil where micheal had the greatest possible way to say goodbye to ferrari. 2012 was a very good year almost cloned 2010 in terms of everything. champonship big crashes and just being so close.by the way you missed barhain 2014 on your best of 2014 list. just saying.

in the early 80s, F1 was more competitive, more interesting. you had cars designed so different from others, some were distinctly better on power circuits, some were unbeatable on twisty tracks. other who cannot compete with expensive aerodynamics and development, used a conservative strategy and managed some podium places using cosworth DFVs and much smaller budgets. i believe regulations were much less then, and so teams had more freedom with their designs and emphasis.

towards the late 80s, and 90s, and through the 2000s until today, rich teams dominated F1. Usually no more than 3 teams were at the top, while the rest were just bridemaids.

agree. Shame I'm kinda one of those guys who will only watch something if it's at least 1080p with high sound quality and modern BBC commentators.

One thing though is having a dominant group up front makes bigger rivalries and drama and the like, I think the problem is we need a very compact front battle, close midfield scrap and a backmarker brawl. That way, if a midfielder reaches the front it will be even more amazing and there will still be tonnes of action and rivalry. 2015 had a decent midfield but nothing really else. As for regulations, I honestly preferred the light ones of days gone but tight ones like now have a few advantages.

1994 was pretty thrilling. Despite the horrible tragedies,  the racing was exciting, and there was lots of drama from Benetton both on and off the track.
