(2016-02-23 ) "Moving from Elite = Relegation?" was the original idea but is not a good one.
There are better ideas in the following messages.
I think the forum should be named "HELPING LESS POPULATED TIERS". Because that's what i was looking for.
(Original message)
If i'm right, the Pro tier is the more complicated to keep with a good number of cars.
And, i think this can help:
- When any team on Elite change to another league, it should go to Pro tier.
Yes, it's possible but not really a good idea ..
Let's see how tiers work currently :
- rookie is for beginners, where your start and learn the basics
- pro is only a temporary tier where you improve yourself and get ready to the superior level
- elite is the final tier, where you face and compete against the best teams
So, yes pro is only for a few seasons and the less populated tier, meaning that promotion can be complicated in less active leagues (8 teams required). But if you want pro to be more attractive I have a better idea to help balance rookie/pro tier :
- rookie (3 or 4 teams promoted)
- pro (2 teams promoted, 3 or 4 teams relegated)
It could help both rookie and pro which are respectively oversaturated by newcomers and less populated/abandoned after first seasons.
How about an option to join a given pro league IF the elite league is full?
Much better idea. The original one is just discriminative and stupid.

I like it too. Thanks Tom, that could help those leagues where the elite is full.
James: Why stupid?
Well, thank you. LOL I was just trying to help Pro tiers with not many teams.

OK, that's perfectly clear, and i agree with your idea. That should help.

And, If elite is well populated, perhaps should relegate 3 or 4 teams?
Maybe the host should be able to change those numbers (promotion, relegation) from 0 to 4 teams in between seasons, to help less populated tiers with the more populated ones.

Well, a bit harsh, but it just stops people wanting a change in scenery, and for those like say Jason Chen who have about 10 accounts in elite in all different leagues running consistently spending a season in pro is just boring. We already have the financial disadvantage etc., and what about if pro is more full than elite?

I think it's ok if you want to move... but, personally, i don't like paratroopers coming to elite from other leagues.
When i moved to another league, the first time, i thought i was going to the Rookie tier to earn 'respect' on that league, that's why i thought moving from elite to pro when changing leagues was not a big deal.
If pro is more full than elite, i'll think that's a competitive league and i'd love to start on Rookie, but again, that's personally my feeling ;)
I think we need to Help 'Less Populated Tiers'. That's the way to have better leagues. Nobody wants to be running alone.
The only way to get relegated would be to not play for a full season & in doing that you risk getting booted out of the league because you are being inactive.
But like everything else there are loopholes that you can take advantage of:
If in a two car league only use one car.
Don't improve current seasons car only work on next season.
Use the techs strategies.
I have often wondered why when you join a new league you don't start off in rookie.
But it makes perfectly good sense, Rookie triers are solely for new comers to the game & experienced players should not be mixed in with them.
