Great chance for Stoffel to shine, and an opportunity for Jenson to look pretty bad... Could be an interesting weekend for McLaren Honda....

Button will retire at the end of this season anyway (not confirmed, but pretty obvious).

yes, i think stoffel is a big talent, but being told a few days before the weekend that you will drive is not easy. he has not done much testing so he does not know the car that well. But i hope he can show us some nice things.

I hope Jenson does go, think too mny drivers are hanging onto their drives and blocking the talent in GP2 etc.

I've thought for a few years now that it'd be good if the top 4 teams each year are required to field a 3rd car, but have to sign a driver thats not been in f1 before.  At the end of that seaon they'd have the choice, keep the new driver and ditch an old one,  or release the new one and make available to other teams.  A great opportunity for new talent to shine and for lower teams to get drivers with some experience.  Points wise the 3rd car would be in a separate battle, not impacting on the normal scoring therefore not giving a points advantage...

3rd car would make f1 much more better. or gp2 champ gets promoted to f1 and f1 last driver get demoted

I have to disagree with most of this. Button has been very quick and consistent in the FP sessions, and he is one of the biggest talents on the grid. Noone gets that GP2 drivers still are only GP2 drivers and we don't want another unproven Pastor Maldonado in the field, if not for comedic effect.

I think the third driver idea is a good concept, along with the demotion system, but it would need to be done correctly. I would like it if we moved over to a football style system, where teams get relegated and promoted from F1 to GP2 and 3 and whatever. The cars would obviously have to be simplified and be easy to make a basis for, so we wouldn't have teams be unprepared and/or go bankrupt. The single driver demotion idea is just stupid; what would be the rules if they didn't do the entire season? What if they were driving a boat? What if the team couldn't get a replacement? Alonso was the Manors and Ericsson away from us losing the best talent on the entire grid last season if that was implemented.

At the end of the day, we just need more seats for racing so we can house veterans and upcoming youngsters such as Stoffel. If we had a football-style system, we could have lower tiers have very similiar cars to higher tiers so they can come up through promotion and be prepared for the cars etc.

Back to the original point, I hope Alonso is ready to get back in the car for next race and he is not majorly hurt. Unless Stoffel fairly wins this race, I still don't see him worthy of taking Fernando's seat. YET, at least.
