How would you do that. I mean in the driver chooses. It all depends on whether they have the coding for it

if they allow it, #1 would go for world champion unless promoted.

Another option could be to have the number determined by their championship position the year before, like in previous eras of f1

I think the driver should have a generated preference list of numbers as he joins the league, he/she will get the free number highest ranked in his/her list. Of course there should be an option to change the preference list for tokens
