What did you try to do?
It’s was raining and then it stopped, I was on inters and wanted to change to dry tyres

What happened instead?
Didn’t work and made me stay on inters, forcing me to pit

The basic run down for this is properly using advanced set up. Here’s a overview of how to do it.

1st Sneario: If the water level will 0.1-3.0mm (inters level) for quali, you’ll want to keep your normal dry strat in the main set up. You’ll then want to apply inters if above 0mm and inters if it is stop raining for 0 laps. This means you’ll quali on inters if the water level is above 0mm of water. And the 0 laps means your ai will box for drys after 0 laps of 0.0mm of water

2nd scenario: If the rain level is 3.1-5mm (wet tires) you’ll want to set your first stint to inters (rest doesn’t matter as you’ll be adjusting stints based of water level and the changing tire wear), wet tires if it is above 3mm, and inters if it stops raining for 0 laps. The idea is you will quali on intermediates if the rain is below 3mm and you’ll be on wets if it’s above 3mm.

Now you may be asking why you have to do this to get the proper tires for the race start. Well it is due to the game mechanics. If it is a wet track on the grid you will have the two wet tire compounds + the first stint tire you selected in the set up tab when preparing for the race. So if quali was at 0.3mm and it dried up for the race start, you’d have an inters quali and you’d start on the tire you set for stint 1 as it is now 0mm.

For sneario 2, well if it’s a wet tire quali it’ll never dry fast enough to start on dries, so setting inters stint 1 is just to make sure you quali on the best tire.

Also a side note for wet races, you will need to use 2 dry compounds in a race IF rain is not falling from the sky after lights out. If it is actively raining after lights out, then, and only then can you ignore the 2 tire rule (assuming your league runs 2 tire rule. Haven’t personally checked)

As I understand it, the final point is wrong. If the track is wet (water level above 0 mm) at the beginning of the race  Inters will count towards the two tyre rule even if it doesn't rain for the entire race.

Inters will not count towards the two tyre rule if the track is dry and it doesn't rain. But why would you run Inters on a dry track?

If you want the option of changing to a dry compound on the grid (the original bug report) you must have the dry compound selected as stint 1 in your main strategy.
