Hello,

I have this one driver that I pay 1m in salary per race. Now that I'm going to promote to pro league I want to spend one season fixing my economy. I want to either get the auto-fill driver (like when a contract expires and the position gets autofilled) or at least a level 1 driver from the market. The thing is that the market doesn't give me low level drivers and I cant sell the driver cause I have no reserve. Also I don't want to spend 50 tokens on an academy driver. It's not even worth it since i can get 20.9m for 15 tokens.

Is there anything I can do or am I stuck with the dude?

Go to headquarters and then youth academy and sign one from there if you have enough tokens.

You are making a big mistake if you think buying via academy is not worth it.  Wages are tiny compared to what you are paying now and a good driver will last you at least 20 seasons.

As for your existing driver you either need to clear your debt so you can sell him or let the contract expire.  Also not sure having a level 1 driver is best way to sort out your economy.  The easiest way to do this without committing real cash is to finish as high up each race as possible earning your sponsorship bonuses.

If you don't care about finishing position, it'd be far better to run in the back and get bonus sponsors requirement to be finish the race.

As you stated you're just trying to reset your economy to be competitive in the long run. Let's start by helping you with that, obviously you're not going to be competitive for the first Pro season if that's your goal but that is entirely fine.

First, ensure you have iRacing as your first sponsor, always the best bang for your buck. Then proceed to decide if you're going to attend every race or let them auto run, if you're attending choose the one with the highest bonus as the goals are very easy to hit for the most part, perhaps a few from the highest bonus. If you're definitely sitting out, choose the highest income, lowest bonus which I believe is WTF1.

To drop your driver, go to Transfer and find the lowest star driver you can, bid in and you'll likely win of course. From there do what you tried before as you will have a substitute. It's going to save you money however you will not compete. Good luck.

I recommend what Austin says, find the lowest salary driver you can currently see for auction in the Transfers market, and keep that driver for 20 races, let the contract run out on its own and you should get an even cheaper driver when the game auto-signs a driver to fill the spot.

The only way that will work is not to set up and attend a race, but as most in Pro tiers are inactive it won’t necessarily mean you will finish down the pack

This is true, just depends on the league you're in and the activity of each tier.

The risk of not setting up or attending the race right now is that your account gets flagged as "Farming". Then you may lose any tokens you earned or, worse case, the account gets closed down.
