Would there ever be a chance to award a point like Indycar does for a pole and leading the most laps?

I don't think this would be a good idea, it'll just change the way strategy works in this game for the worse. You'll find that pretty quick that players would always start on SS to try and get that free point, and even some players would run ridiculous strategies to try and get more laps led. Implementing this would probably be even more controversial than the point for fastest lap.

It really wouldn’t.  Most managers would see the extra point as a waste of effort much in the same way most ignore fastest lap.  You really think managers will give up the chance of 25pts or even 9 or 10 just to earn 1pt 😂

Ok I see your point, (although most managers do try and achieve that fastest lap) but please explain to me why this would be a good idea. Even if no-one makes a conscious effort to achieve these points as you predict, who would get them? The winner? And would that be any good?

I never said it would be a good idea.  I believe it is irrelevant in the grand scheme of things and no one will actually target it over the bigger prize of a high placing in the race.

The reality is that not many people try to get to that point. Even the most experienced riders are not guaranteed to be able to achieve this one point and achieve a high ranking in a race.

I disagree, it’s an extra point, an extra tool in your toolbox. When I was pro, battling higher level managers, it helped me I could grab an extra point (without sacrificing points), it became part of my race strat to end on softer compound to grab it

For me it's a good idea, but only as an optional setting (like the pitstop where you have to add fuel, or the obligation to change compounds)
