Might take some time.
The ultimate IGP American street circuit.

Probably because it’s the only American street circuit…

No but it is a fun high speed track.

These things take about 3 to 5 years to gain traction, as they take up a boatload of coding time

Done this track on the weekend for my F1 league, i like it. This, Qatar, Saudi, Miami, revised Abu Dhabi would make good editions to the race calendar, but ideally it would be nice to have the current tracks have the right length/lap count and all DRS zones with actual detection points first. I mean unless it could all be done at the same time.

Hey Chris,

Our tracks are different to the real ones. For copyright reasons are only inspired in then. That’s why we can’t copy the layout or lap count.

Monaco for example is typically 78 laps, iGP has 59.. why not change the lap count to 77 or 79?

How is there a copyright on a track layout? lol. I can understand where someone recreates the actual track in reality would be frowned upon but using a model of a track for a game is absurd.

We can have a look about Monaco’s lap count. Street tracks aren’t under the copyright and trademark regulations I mentioned above.

The question is, wouldn’t it be a bit boring such a slow track if we increase 20 laps? Feel free to open your own topic suggestion so we don’t hijack this one!

Yeah can do a suggestion. It used to be 78 laps I'm sure, it gives a lot more scope for strategy but there is option for 50% (75%)? length races anyway.

I don't understand the trademark issue tbh, like if you were to make up a track based on Silverstone for a grand prix game it's like making up the planet earth on spore and having someone whine about it. If you were to make up coffee tables in the shape of the track and sell them under trademarked name like Silverstone Coffee Tables then i would agree there is an issue, but with the trademarked name not the actual track itself. They've gone mad.

Makes sense about the time wait. Still think the Vegas las gp would be cool though

You really can't compare Monaco in real life to the circuit in iGP. The 3D update a few years ago severed any links to reality.

The Monaco circuit length in real life is 3.337 km with, like you say, a lap count of 78.

Before the 3D update in March 2021, in iGP the lap length was 3.34 km and 100% race was 78 laps. So just about the same as real life.

After the 3D update, the layout looked almost identical but the lap length increased to 4.015 km and 100% race reduced to 59 laps.

So what's the problem? Simply increase/decrease the number of laps to get the same race length(km). Or the length of the race also under copyright?

There is no problem, and no, I don't believe race length is copyright. I just make the point that because the circuits were re-drawn for 3D you can no longer compare iGP to real life and using the same or similar lap count won't necessarily work.

Simply increasing / decreasing the lap count is precisely what was done when the the 3D update was introduced. It had nothing to do with copyright but an attempt by iGP Devs to achieve a reasonable overall race time at 100% distance.

Despite best efforts of the team who introduced 3D, some of the race lengths were way out of kilter when the update dropped. If I remember correctly, Mexico at 100% and 1.0x speed took an eternity.

3D update was introduced 30th March 2021 and because overall race time was wrong the lap count for Australia was changed in June 21 and that of Belgium, China, Malaysia, Mexico and Singapore were all changed in November 21.

Aside from Monaco and copyright etc. If we are to get new circuits, it would be much nicer to see ones inspired by great classic circuits like Imola, Zandvoort, Kyalami or Long Beach; rather than horrible modern facilities like Jeddah, Losail, Miami or Vegas.
