👋,

I know the team is focused on more pressing issues so this is just something to note for the future maybe.

I'm old school and even with the advent of 3D, I still use my 2D viewer and dots to race. This is simply because of 1 reason, the bird's eye view camera angle.

My suggestion is to bring this into 3D as one of the camera angle options, so we can see the positions of all the cars at any given time.

I think many old schoolers share the same sentiment, it would be cool to enjoy the 3D viewer/graphics that so much effort went into.

👋.

If I am not wrong, if you press the small track at the top of your screen in the 3d viewer, a large map of the track is popped up, and the positions of every car is shown. However, you can only view the small map alongside any other camera angles.

Hi Ishaan,

You are not wrong but that's not what I'm referring to. That simply gives you 2D dots in the 3D viewer, not a bird's eye view with the 3D cars. Hope that makes sense?

If I have this correct.  You want the current birds eye view to be able to be zoomed out to show the full track, with the focus to be on the entire track, rather than the cars. Some sort of "blimp" view.  If I am right, this is a good idea.

If this were to be implemented, may I also suggest that this birds eye view also have a few camera angles, so that the 3d can be taken advantage of?

What current Birds Eye view? There’s the helicopter view currently?

I believe what archie is asking for is a replication of the 2D camera, centred on the car from directly above, within the 3D mode. As such there would be no other camera angles as it would be a zoom in/out from the top.

I think it’s a great idea, currently I find 3D close to unplayable, especially for 2 car racing. Putting in a camera mode like this would really be helpful for race management and I’d give it a go for sure.

To me, a birds eye view is a view from above the track.  The first view that you see from entering a race in the 3-D viewer IS a view from above, as if your car is being followed by, for example, a drone.  It is a partial birds eye view of the track, centered around where your car IS at the time.  This, I know, is NOT the view that is being asked for.

So, I am asking/suggesting that an improvement to that view  where you can keep zooming out and at some point it becomes a fixed, 3-D view of the entire track, with 3-D renderings of all cars of the race going around the track and your car highlighted, somehow, as if being taken at irl blimp altitudes is what is being suggested.

What you are actually saying is that you think that the current birds eye view should just be able to be zoomed out to blimp altitudes, but centered on your car.  I think, that would be distracting, considering the continuous movement of a full track that would be involved.  Therefore I think that such a view should be centered on the track, itself.

I'll have to disagree I'm afraid. I want to manage my car and it's push levels and have a closer view on what's surrounding it so I can judge DRS views corner by corner. I basically want to play in 2D, which is what I do anyway. I'm 90% sure that is what archie was also requesting.

But it would be nice to try play in the 3D engine, currently none of the views allow for efficient judgements. The angle of the helicopter view can make judging distances difficult, or provides inconsistent viewpoints in some areas of the track forcing me to constantly rotate and adjust to tell what is going on. The TV view looks lovely but I can't really race with it, and the views centred on a single car are useless for managing a 2 car race.

To me the problem with a zoomed out camera centred on the track in 3D is that I will have to follow my cars myself, and that might be difficult to do at that distance, especially if there are cars with similar liveries.

I have no problem with a view like what you are asking for being added, possibly as an outcome when you zoom the originally proposed birds eye view out far enough. I simply don't believe that what was originally requested.

More like 100%.
