I'm beginning a new season and to avoid design points errors I left my league, joined a new one, and then joined my league again, two times, because I saw these errors on the first try.
The errors are:
With fuel and tyres providers set to Chavon and Komehome, I lost 1 point in:
Acceleration
Breaking
Cooling
Downforce
Handling
Please review this article. Most likely your CD is a level below your account level and not 5 star. This means you will not generate the maximum design possible when joining a league. You will need your CD to be either 5 star or the same level as your account if I understand the mechanics correctly.
Yes, I understand but my CD is a 5* even if he is 1 level below the team level. I've turned a lot of levels this way (the CD level became -1 than the team's new level and it was the first time it happened).
Hi Carlos, 5 stars is not enough. Your CD must be a level above your account in order to have the maximum possible. So if you are level 26, look a for a lvl 27 5 stars CD and TD. They are super rare I know.
If you don't you will always have to leave a point somewhere. This game (or the programming language is based on) does not round numbers properly.

I disagree with the statement that a CD has to be one level higher than the team.. A CD the same level is sufficient to generate maximum design regardless of whether the CD displays as 4.5 or 5 star.
A CD one level lower must display as full 5 star to get maximum design.
A CD one level higher will always display as full 5 star.
You can both disagree but that's what happens. I don't play daily and every time I have months to see how every choice affects my next season and I can affirm this without the worry of being wrong.
4.5 does not have the same effect as 5 stars.
Probably it worked at lower levels where decimal numbers are not far from the upper integer. But now I clearly see it's not the same effect.
Yes, I know that, or a 5-star CD (4.5 or 5 star or a red 5 star, all that are the same). It's why I posted this error.
I don´t know why it is marked as solved!

Edit: there was another reply deleted.
I too have been monitoring this for months since the L30 update and can categorically state that you do not need a CD a level above team level to get maximum start design. A CD at the same level is sufficient.
The Engine/Fuel/Tyre suppliers give combined +32 FE and -12 TE. So as you can see the core design is 63 Handling, 21 TE and 42 in the remaining 6 attributes which is the maximum 3/2/1 you can achieve for season start design. All with a 4.5 star CD at the same level as the team.

Hi Carlos, please can you let me know what is the core starting design of your car (ignoring the suppliers).
You have a CD one level lower than your team. Is this CD displaying as full five yellow stars or 4.5 stars?
If it is only 4.5 stars and 1 level lower then this is why you haven't received maximum design.

Of course you are both right when we talk about joining a new league (which is the topic of this thread). I agree with you but we don't know how much reliable is the star rating algorithm. 4.82 is not like 5.0 but we still see 5 yellow stars. That's my concern and why I recommend an higher level for staff.
My last statement was more generic and referred to initial design points after spenting a whole season in the same league because I have seen strange and unexpected things in my 3 years here (I've been a bit off-topic maybe).
