I approached some drivers yesterday (5 in total), but didn't sign them yet because I went offline.

Today I got the message:
"More than enough time has passed to sign a contract. I will review my options elsewhere."

When I try to offer a new contract (to some other driver), I get this message:
"You have made the maximum number of offers. You can make more offers at the next race."

Which basically means I can't attend in the next race because I have no drivers? (which is still 2days to go)

I know it's not really a bug, but I think something should be changed..

I thought the same when i was thinking about drivers, because there is so many people wanting to get drivers at the same time, 5 offers seems very small.

You can. This is where the auto-sign feature can bail you out. Go to your staff page and click auto-sign to get drivers no matter what circumstances you have.

As you said, it's not a bug either, it's there to prevent managers from "blocking" other managers between races from signing a driver. The timeout is 12hrs, so the maximum one manager can block a driver / staff member from another team is 12hrs. If it was 24hrs or more that would mean that a manager could offer a driver just after every round and block him from going to another team (which would be more silly imo).

but if i use autosign will the remove the driver and staff i already have? Also what about those who have bid on drivers that haven't been signed but were not the highest bidder? that contract that fell through on the highest bidder should then go to the next person down no?

It won't remove anyone you already have, to make this clearer I have changed the wording from "fill available positions" to "fill vacant positions".

Contracts are not passed on as you described, it would go to the next bidder(s) who come along after your group is done.
