This is a moot discussion. Regardless of whether or not the game assigns unique randomised numbers to each driver in a league, as soon as you allow players to select their preferred number, it is inevitable there will be duplicates. Agreed, they won't all be the same number, but neither will each driver in a league be unique.
Even if the range is widened to 1-99 how many Brits will want their driver to be 4, 44 or 63, Spaniards wanting 14 or 55 etc. If the Devs introduced logic to prevent duplicates in a league, how would you deal with newcomers to a league or those that have either been promoted or relegated? You'd be charging people 20 or 40 tokens each time they moved league/tier to select a number they didn't really want.
So yes, having a single default number is the only real option, what that number should be (1, 32 or anything else) is kind of irrelevant.
There is another option (like I said earlier I’m not bothered about bespoke numbering), but you could give the number relevance by it representing your finishing position the previous season. Those promoted could be given the next numbers following the lowest placed member of the league and new joiners could be allocated the next set in order of when they joined the league. Car resetting would be an issue, but assuming it can’t be coded for you to retain the no of the previous season’s finishing position it would just be a simple choice of resetting or keeping your number. For some seeing your number improve each season would be an incentive especially considering how many threads there used to be about increasing the allocation of pts per race(these are the managers the game needs to find ways to retain. We don’t see these threads anymore since they have all probably quit).
