Weather changing / Tyres

Hello,

just had a race at germany. Started at a wet track with about 11°C. Then after a while weather changed to dry condition. I stayed out as long as i could see the spindrift (hope my translator give me the right word, i mean the water behind the wheels). Then i went into pit 3 laps before finish (had to less fuel anyway). After that i installed me some SS tyres. But the opponent with Intermediate tyres was much faster than me at the dry track.

The track wasn't completely dry even at the end. The gauge said 0mm but there was still water there. I was also on SS and Inters were quicker but that's normal. A few more laps and the Inters would have over heated.

It's not a bug.

I was in the same race, opted for SS a couple of laps before Martin. Inters were the fastest tyres while there was 1-2mm of rain (to be expected). But for the last three laps there was 0mm of water on track, so dry compounds should have been faster because, after all, there was no water on the track. Yet as Martin says, the intermediate tyres were going purple right up to the chequererd flag.

Yeah I'd also say not a bug.

I had a race last week where I stayed on inters when my main competitor switched to softs. Even after the water drained from the meter and the rain sounds/plumes stopped, the inters remained faster for another few laps after that. Only on the very last lap did the guy running softs finally run a faster lap time than my (by then, overheated) inters.

You could make an argument that the rain meter could be more effective at conveying the track conditions, but I'd like to think it shouldn't be so accurate that there's no guessing involved in using dry or intermediate tires.

It is a known problem since beta. The gauge in the new viewer does not show decimals, therefore 0 mm on the gauge probably meant something between 0,1-0,9 mm of water is still on track, which is not visible with the current gauge design. That is why the Inters were still faster than SS, there was still some water on the track. Hopefully this will be changed soon.
