Ballast as it is does not make the game "fair" nor "competitive". It makes it mediocre, specially the Elite Tier.

In my league, Elite tier has 90% under 30 teams and have some under 20. Most in PRO are 20 or under. I'm 30 in PRO carrying  extra 11Kg.

One team in Elite has won, at least, the past 10 seasons and another team repeated second place for at least 5 seasons (just left the league). Both level 30, and I believe there are another 3 level 30 in Elite and that's it.

In the mean time, I'm in my second season in PRO struggling with ballast seeing how teams under 20 have the same or better chance than me to get promoted to Elite just to bounce back to PRO almost immediately or finish mid table at best for several seasons to end up leaving the league or dropping the game.

I'm pretty sure could be more fulfilling to be a PRO champ than struggle with relegation or finish mid table for many seasons in Elite.

Nobody wants to stay in PRO by choice, hence high level teams should get promoted fast to fill Elite with higher level teams. Your ballast approach is thought as if 20+ level teams would want to stay in PRO.

Ballast as it is, it's harmful. Either you remove it, make it (at least) optional (league settings) or calculate it in another way taking into account number of teams under 30 in Elite versus level 30 teams in PRO. Not just by adding it based on level cap.

You're penalizing oldest and committed players in favor of newest and (possible) non-committed players.

You should focus on making Elite competitive fast, not making PRO "fair".

Hello Felipe

I'm struggling to understand this, there is no ballast in the elite tier.

Edit: Oh I think I get it, you say it affects the elite tier because the high level teams are stuck in pro

Hi Red,

I'm in PRO. You missed this info. I just join this league where Elite was full, so I landed in PRO.

Edit: "Red Craigie: Oh I think I get it, you say it affects the elite tier because the high level teams are stuck in pro".

Exactly!

Hmmm, if you are an elite team, and you elite is full, you would not be moved to pro.

Is it possible your account was not in a league when we had the technical issue a while ago? Your account history suggests you weren't in a league around then.

A lot of teams which weren't in leagues were relegated incorrectly, if that affected you, you should be able to request promotion to elite with a support ticket.

Although it looks like that may be unnecessary now judging your current season.

Moving onto your point, it's an interesting one. One of the larger problems right now is low level teams ending up in elite and then being slaughtered in elite by higher level teams. They usually end up laps down on the field. From my  own observations that isn't usually down to high level teams being disadvantaged by ballast, it's just from pro being relatively quiet in most leagues.

Ballast is supposed to balance pro so that it's enjoyable for all, but as you say it shouldn't be ruling level 30 teams out of competing entirely.

Uhmm I see. That sounds likely. I "paused" the game for a while (months) while active in a league. I never left the league, but not sure if I got kicked out. I resumed playing by joining a new league because a player I know just joined and let me know.

I honestly don't remember if I was still in my previous league prior joining the current one.

Right now I'm first in PRO, mostly out of luck however. The teams chasing me have been skipping some live races and missing setups at the beginning of the season. Maybe thinking it wouldn't be a challenge. As soon as they saw two new teams were beating them things changed. Their cars performance is better by a notorious difference in "equal conditions" and by "equal conditions" I mean attending races and taking care of the team appropriately. With 4 races left, my promotion is nothing but sure.

If, as you said, I shouldn't be in PRO in the first place, this shows ballast formula should be reconsidered.

Considering the scenario that an Elite tier is full of 30 level teams. Eventually one or two 30 level teams will get relegated to PRO, right? Making my current scenario possible, correct?

I have that problem too, teams level 18 are faster than me (L 22), it's unfair.
