I know, you think I’m crazy. But hear me out.
IGP has to survive and they need income to do so a pass might be a cheap option to support the game constantly.
There are endless ways of implementing such a pass.
You could adapt it to the player’s level. E.g. a player who is level 1-29 might get the XP boost included, while people level 25-30 get new skins for the HQ or they unlock new liveries for the car.
The pass could also give you something like extra engine slots. Normally you can have a maximum of 20 engine at each reset. The pass could raise this to 25/30. Also you could get extra parts/engine so you can repair the car each race.
The cost could be around 5-10€ for a season (when the hall of fame standings get a reset).
I know this seams a way of making the game pay to win, but what other alternatives do they have to make a reasonable income? Also it’s not really pay to win because people can already buy parts and engine to repair their cars each race. So, as long as they don’t change the balance of the managing part of the game I think this could be a great addition.
A lot of games do this quite well. My concern with implementing it in this games is I’m not entirely sure how easily you could make the pass attractive enough to managers ( both new and existing) while keeping it commercially attractive for iGP without it fundamentally changing the game. Most normally offer a f2p pass (this would be the existing daily rewards) and the pay path is normally an enhanced version. Would work for new managers, but not for existing especially those at lvl 30. That is the stumbling block for most ideas from the community - they don’t always work for level 30players.
Having read through this and the thread on ‘where was are now ‘ and looked at the ideas raised and the responses from iGP I suspect they have made a decision to focus on changes that will attract and retain new managers. They are probably prepared to lose a lot of the existing high level managers if the changes secure the long term future of the game.
While that sucks for a lot of us it probably makes sense for the game hence the focus on 3D and W2W despite the long term community wanting to stick with 2D. I suspect the game will continue to move away from its management game origins as it adjusts for a new and younger audience. In a way the forum is an ‘echo chamber’ comprised mainly of those who have played the game for a long time and isn’t necessarily representative of the future and what newer managers will want as a gaming experience.
