At which level is it best to start manufacturing own engines. I heard that there is no real benefit unless your level 30, is this true?

Start at lvl 20 - day 1.

At level 30, you can change the engine weakness. So for example, +30acceleration / -15 tire economy. But even without that, the custom engine is better than stock engines when you have the engine points maxxed out.

If you plan on spending tokens to buy engine points you can wait.

But if you wanna build your engine without spending money or tokens, then start from the moment you unlock it (level 20) because you’ll need a ton of points to max it out and without buying points it will take like 31 seasons of 22 races each.

If you use the 3 tokens that you get after each race you will earn approx 88 points per season (22 races in a season, 1 race = 1 point, 1 token = 1 engine point, 3 tokens per race) which means it will take you a little more than 8 seasons to max out your engine and you won’t have any more tokens to spend on anything else like driver’s, money or parts.

I had no idea it would take that long. I’m already level 26 and I always thought that there wouldn’t be much of a difference between being a customer and an engine manufacturer. Well then i guess ill have to start right now.

it used to be better when you could do 5 ads a day for 5 engine pts

Yeah I guess it’s time, because being able to choose the weakness is a nice advantage to have and you’ll be level 30 by the time you max it out.

Previously you could watch 5 ads a day, as Yousuf said, but they had to remove the feature. With 5 a day + 1 from the race you could max out your engine in 120 days (24 tracks * 30 points/track = 720 points).

But now you just get 1 per race and that’s it. So you need 720 days (without taking note of the rest days between seasons).
