Hi everyone.
I’m writing this post to share some constructive feedback and suggestions for the recent update.
My goal isn't to criticize the work put in, but to offer a player’s perspective on how we can improve the experience.
I will not say a thing about the current bugs, as I know the development team is already aware and working hard to fix them; instead, I’ll focus purely on gameplay mechanics and potential improvements.

1) Currently, 2D is unplayable for competitive racing, as it is impossible to accurately judge the gaps between cars.
Since a large portion of the community uses 2D, either by preference or due to low-end devices, it is critical that the 2D experience is improved immediately to remain viable for serious gameplay.

2) The 10% driver atrophy will force every single player to change their drivers much sooner than expected.
With this implementation, there is a high chance that the driver's academy, which is the place where most tokens are spent by managers, is going to be used less frequently.
Everyone is going to be fighting to obtain drivers from the market at the start of every season, and we all know how many quality drivers you can find there.
Also, I don't understand why we have to be penalized with this kind of atrophy when we change leagues.
We don't cheat or farm when we do this; sometimes our schedule changes or we want to try something new.
I understand the reason behind this decision, but it needs rework.
My suggestion: reduce the atrophy to a maximum of 5% and stop penalizing us for changing leagues.
Finally, I believe that having to pay to maintain our headquarters should be removed, as it makes no sense at all.

3) Boost should recharge by distance and not per lap, as we currently have, for instance, 44% in Belgium versus 78% in Monaco in full races.
This creates a clear imbalance between tracks that needs to be addressed.

4) I highly respect the effort to stop farming, but I recommend changing the criteria for identifying inactive accounts from "and" to "or" in all league types.
This would prevent players from bypassing the system by logging in once every 6 days to avoid being flagged.
Additionally, there are too many leagues, which inevitably leads to farming.
A bold move would be to close leagues with fewer than 4 managers (in 2-car leagues) or 6 managers (in 1-car leagues).
Finally, the Hall of Fame needs to be properly addressed at some point, because in its current state, it is honestly a joke.

5) Before the update, we were able to see the results of previous races in both our own and other leagues, so can this feature return?

6) It would be better if the quick healing and perfect setup buttons had a confirmation screen to prevent accidental use.

7) Right now we cannot see how many XP points we need in order to level up, so it would be nice if we could see this information again.

8) The Daily Donut should work like the daily reward; it should be available to grab every calendar day rather than every 24 hours.

Thanks for your time!

On point 1, FYI I'm considering giving you the option to simply disable W2W racing for leagues who want to go back to something like the old system. It should be possible, and would help leagues where everyone plays in 2D.

I could even make this "2D leagues" instead, where you can only play in 2D, like offline leagues. If I'm going to disable W2W, I'd want to hide it. It would be in the new league boosts system and I'd put it at the Gold tier though because frankly, I don't want the game to look like that, but if you scratch my back I'll scratch yours and support it.

This is the point of this new system, we can be more flexible in what we support, because there's a justification for offering quirky support for unusual features.

I appreciate the hard work put into the 3D and W2W racing, but for me it's not something I like just because it wasn't imperative. I really enjoyed the 2D perspective a lot but I think we both know that the 3D and W2W is not perfect. Even F1 manager never had it perfect either (from what I saw). 2D was simple and good enough to me and I was so annoyed that it got hit as part of collateral damage.

I don't think offering to disable it entirely for the league is the right choice at all. I believe you should keep 2D as it was pre update and the 3D race viewer to be the new W2W experience (while not perfect, I was still mesmerised with the onboard POV). Whoever wants to run the 2D viewer should be able to do so in tandem with the 3D viewers. I'm not a computer guy so I don't know if that would cause issues but that's my 'consumer is always right' perspective of it.
Hopefully you guys can quickly get all the things back in track.

While I'm here, my league got split in 2 which happened to many. Personally I don't think that was the right call. Maybe in the other countless leagues where there are so many inactives and 6 teams in Pro and Elite each, it makes sense. But in the big leagues where there are so many players and have a tight community, it just felt counterintuitive.

1) the daily donut is working yes

2) sorry but i disagree about locking it or hide it behind league boost and in gold tier because in your position you shouldnt think about what u want or how u like ur game to be, you have to think about what the player base, the community wants cuz at the end of the day they're the ones playing the game, spending some cash on it to keep it going
if ur just gonna do what u like and the player base dont like it, you're simply the one losing here cuz they'll just leave
you should always aim to please your player base and keep them interested and listen to their feedbacks
so it's not about scratching backs here, it's about making your player base enjoy the game, and they're not enjoying it atm

I want to push back on the idea that this is about personal preference, or that any one playstyle represents the whole community.

iGP has a very diverse player base, and part of my role is balancing those perspectives in a way that allows the game to continue to exist, evolve, and improve over time. That also means recognising that feedback tends to concentrate in places like the forum, where people naturally come when they have strong opinions. Many players who are enjoying the changes simply don’t post, but they are very much part of the community too. The challenge is finding a path forward that works for the broader player base, not just the most vocal segment.

Unlike previous comments, I'm in favor of using the boost to hide W2W and allowing leagues that want to play as before to do so.

An update costs time and money; they're not going to just throw everything out there. They'll surely want to keep testing and improving it. But in the meantime, it's a good solution.

Although, yes, I would really remove it for a few days or weeks because even in 3D, the cars brake unexpectedly on straightaways and are unable to engage DRS in under 1 second... But once this is fixed, I would let each league run in either the old or modern mode, as they prefer.

Ok let me rework this in a way so we can get more clarity. I have two related queries:
1. Do you regard 3D wheel to wheel racing at the moment working as intended? As in, one of the most common complaints floating around at the moment is the issue of backmarkers blocking cars on lead laps. Is it exactly how you envision this to work? I am not buying the "it was an oversight", or "a time shortage" defense because I believe a couple of testers came forward to clarify that they reported this quite early on in the testing phase in another thread. So TL;DR I am looking for a definitive yes / no answer; yes would imply, backmarkers will continue to block race leaders, no means you have plans to patch it either through introducing ghosting for backmarkers or blue flags where they move away from the line the lead car is taking, which is basically the same thing but visually more realistic.
2. if the answer to the previous is no, my suggestion would be for a temporary middleground where 2D racing is made as a free tier option at the moment or in the cheapest boost tier, because responding "No" inadvertently means 3D racing is not feature complete yet. Once the issues in 3D wheel to wheel are patched, 2D racing can be moved to the luxury tier, because it becomes personal preference at that point.

Another query is regarding making 2D more viable for wheel to wheel play. The current 2D view within the 3D viewer is capable of showing various lines taken by cars and w2w interactions. But this view has limitations in terms of zooming capabilities, and other quirks like just dots and not cars. So are there any difficulties in mirroring the interactions the same way in the 2D viewer?

Thanks

Hi Jack, I really appreciate the effort you´re putting into evolving the game and its gameplay and fixing all the bugs, thank you.

While it is obvious that W2W has some serious issues that have been already pointed out, I believe that the final product will really be neat and better reflect F1 racing. However as Toto said, there is a big chunk of the playerbase that for one reason or another (low spec devices/ simply enjoyed 2D more/were used to it and learning a whole new mechanic is too much that you would rather just quit etc). Preferred 2D over anything else, hence I think that enabling 2D leagues with the old 'classic' system would be incredible beneficial to keep those hardcore 2D players, or those that, like me, are eager to race on the W2W, but while it gets polished would rather race on the 2D /classic physics system.

In summary, if it is feasible, the more options given to the gameplay, the more players will stay and arrive too.

Thanks!

Alright, I'll do it. Offline leagues and 2D mode, and even the option to combine the two if you want. 2D mode will go back to a classic style of play with only dirty air but no collision avoidance. Important note: It will be based on the current version of the game, so it will not be exactly the same as the old one, but that just means you will have the tyres heating in turns not on straights etc.

Give me a few weeks, it's a busy time of year and I have to spend time with family (eventually), but I will get it done.

Hi Jack,

I respect the efforts you’re putting in to the game and how responsive you’ve been when im sure it’s chaotic behind the scenes.

My suggestion is this, restore the classic “ghosting” style of racing whilst working out the kinks for the W2W, this should help users in the meantime manage races easier  and also eliminate the backmarker issue for the most part.

I would also be willing to remerge all the split leagues back together as while there are valid reasons to do this, its left many cases where a league has been split and its resulted in two leagues both not full which I dont believe was the intention.

Hell yeah, our league will pay to have their old game back!  I know Jack has spent a fortune of his time and money in W2W, and it pains me to say it's just not what iGP is about.  The succes formula that made this game a hit, was the simplicity, the online battles and banter, and the strategy.  Not the visuals or realism, there are too many games for that.  You got to know what to aim for in the gaming business.  Our long standing league will quit without the 2D simplicity, and not only them.  So yes please, thanks Jack!

I did like the rechargeable batteries though, and the new challenges and strategies they imply. And I didn't even mind the topdown view zoomed out, it was spectacular.  So it wasn't all bad.  But the gameplay of W2W is so horrific it didn't even matter.  It was more like a pinball lottery than a race.

If I could offer a couple of suggestions,

1 - Would it be possible to re-enable “ghosting” while the kinks with w2w and cornering, braking etc are worked out? Or outright removing w2w until it is actually ready to use. It really throws everything off right now and while I think the w2w aspect is a nice idea and will be very neat when fully functional, it needs serious refinement and I know is very negatively impacting the gameplay experience for most if not all players

2 - Another manager in the league I am in pointed out an issue with the headquarter buildings. We are unable to fix/repair a building while it is being upgraded, but the building is still experiencing atrophy and negatively impacting its output. That manager is upgrading design and since they cannot repair the building, they are not able to get the proper level of points each race. If we could have the ability to still repair the building during its upgrade phase, that would be sensible in my opinion

I'm currently upgrading my design building and I believe I am able to repair it. Although now you mention it, I couldn't say 100% if i have and I've just lost my mind with the unfinished buggy aspects of the update. I have a level 26 design building upgrading to level 27 and yet I'm only receiving 23 points per race. Not sure if this is a bug or another unmentioned and unnecessary nerf to the game.

I'm working on the physics as priority 1 right now. I've dropped almost everything else to get this done. I will have an update for you soon.

I'll set all "under construction" HQ to 100%. This issue was already fixed but those who have ongoing construction were impacted. EDIT: Done. You should get full design points.
