At the start of each season all of my parts are in decent shape. Except for breaks. They are always at 1. I don't understand how the can be 1, when I have a 4.5 star CD level 16. Their weakness is breaks, but I don't see how they could be that poor of start. Could I try and get an explanation on how it all works with CD's

CD weaknesses essentially have negative effects on the design of next seasons car. So they will end up at 1 quite often. One strategy is to rotate CD throughout a season to avoid having any distinct weakness on the car. Because the designs are built throughout the season, not just at the last race, by all active CD in the season.

In other words have 8 designers all with different strengths and weaknesses and use a different designer each race to avoid having a 1 in design. Costly to have a great design car every season

Jack have you tested this? if using a different CD who has strength and weakness the other way around avoids having 1 on a part, what if they all have the same weakness and different strengths? maybe I could gain an advantage.
A few things on the car are not important at the moment is why I'm wondering
