Hi! Could someone please help me understand how this game works?
How can a level 10 team finish in second place? I’m a bit confuse. Does this seem correct?
Has the game always worked this way? I’m honestly not sure how to tell whether I’m making the right decisions.

In this game, my car is intended to be more like a Cadillac / AUDI (lvl10), not a Ferrari, McLaren, or Red Bull. (lvl 35/40)

Levels are less determinative than they used to be, especially since we introduced the % levels scale system. In short, yes, it is possible. Levels are not a definitive advantage anymore, it's more about how you manage each race.

Due to the new update in December 2025, some aspects of the game have been tweaked in order to have only one tier per league, such as access to the best drivers (I see that you already have one at 100%) and technology (if your technology is up to date, your KERS/DRS will be the same as the one of a Level 40).

Seeing that you achieved the podium later in the season, it makes sense if you know how to develop the car during the season. One question, how many people are online during your league's races?

I understand the explanation, however doesn’t this risk discouraging level 35–40 players who have spent years developing their teams, if a manager with less than a month of experience can realistically challenge them? I could see the frustration of veteran managers yesterday when I finished in second place. I get why some veteran managers felt frustrated. Skill-based racing is great, but long-term progression still needs to feel meaningful, otherwise years of investment can feel devalued. In the end, you can’t satisfy both Greeks and Trojans. It’s hard to strike a balance that fully satisfies both veterans and newcomers. 

I don’t know if this has already been suggested, but maybe something like tiered categories could help: Rookie (levels 1–15), Pro (16–30), and Elite (31+). I think E.Calvo already answer that.
That way newer managers can compete and learn without feeling overwhelmed, while veteran managers still have a space where long-term progression clearly matters.

All my HQ buildings are level 10.
I simply selected all the car attributes for research (acceleration, braking, handling, etc.). I didn’t do anything special beyond that. I think my research is too powerful (to close the gap). I started the season with everything 1DP. I do not have more than 200Dp in one attribute.
And I can see that my driver is much cheaper than it would be if I were level 40. (Ideally, the wage should be the same regardless of level ... to add a bit more difficulty for newcomers.)

Yup, we used to have that 3 tiers back in the day (I've been playing this game on and off for 8 years), but games lose players over the time (please Jack, do that marketing push), and apart from that, they wanted to move the leagues into a more pay-to-play (custom leagues and boosts) / unified system. I don't think it's either a good or bad decision, I am a league host, and it's a bit easier to manage the activity, and they need the money to run the game hahahaha.

From my perspective and experience, I believe that the more experienced managers can still have the extra competitiveness to fight for Championships during the first races due to having more Design Points and cars being more equal (which gives less Research Points), apart from having custom engines and chassis that can give an additional push.

As you are saying, it looks like you are doing the right choices in developing your car, your personell and your headquarters, so it seems that Jack's vission is paying off (that the managers that know how to play can fight), and you are in a fairly decent league, so Kudos to you for doing such a good job! We have a Level 10 in our league that made a P10 fighting with some very veteran players and we celebrated, cause we were teaching him how to play for days!

PD: Genesis it's my favourite band! I love almost every album, and I have the Foxtrot LP in my room! I'm overjoyed to find a fellow Genesis fan!

Your explanation really helped me understand things more clearly. I can see now that veterans still have a strong advantage at the start of the season, while newer managers can build a competitive car later on. That definitely changed how I look at the game.
