Race starts

I've heard from several leagues that when they switch to Classic 2D mode, the race start are completely random; they're broken. A car starting in position P2 ends up in position P15 on a corner, a car starting in position P20 ends up in position P3 on a corner, and so on.

I imagine the staff is aware of this bug, but my question is whether they know where the problem lies or if it will be fixed in the short term.

Our league starts next week, and many veterans are racing again after six months. If this bug isn't fixed urgently, I think the veterans will quickly quit the game again.
