Custom rules for private lobby

Last week, we did a very enjoyable stream playing races with the community, and I was thinking about the possibility to implement custom rules (race length, two compounds, ...) to private lobbies. It would be a fun quirk that could increase events outside the typical league races.

I don't support this idea. Part of the challenge is adapting to the same rules as everyone else. Custom lobby rules could fragment the experience, and I'd rather see development focused on improving the core game.

However adapting needs changing environments and/or rules to adapt to. The current static rule set requires fine tuning and optimizing a set of track strategy templates to perfection and stick to it.

I'm agreeing with the OP, for private lobbies to be a really interesting feature they need all the tools available to be set up to match the intended challenge. I'd go even beyond league rules and add things like setting a DRS and Boost strength cap (some league rules like DRS on/off look like to be considered as well, though).

A uniform rule set is more for the classic open Sprint races, those have a need to be run in a comparable format, however maybe voting for some of next months rules (some things, like length and speed are probably better to remain fixed), like with the official leagues, might be nice, but that'd be another thread.

I agree with Doctor Tentacle here. Since these settings would only apply to private lobbies, they wouldn't affect the standard Sprint experience at all. Giving hosts more control over race length, tyre rules, DRS, or boost limits could open up a lot of fun community events and unique challenges without impacting competitive balance elsewhere.
