For those of you that have been following the discussions around balancing promotion and relegation and allowing more freedom when levelling up, I have some (slightly cryptic) news. It has been a while since the last discussion, so I wanted to keep everyone posted.
In development the idea has evolved further from what was published before. It's different in implementation, but based on the core principles of the 'soft level cap' which was discussed. The outcomes and impacts are the same as that system, but the implemention is far more elegant and simplistic than all the proposals that were made previously. It won't require visual level caps all over the interface; it can be displayed in one place with a clear explanation. It will also be used in the coming friendly race system, keeping it as one system across the entire game which everyone will understand and be familiar with.
So, it should tick all the boxes when it arrives. I wasn't happy to implement a big change like this until there was a way to do so without compromising the game experience. That is why so much discussion went in to it before a final design was reached. I know this is a vague post, but I'm keeping it under wraps until it is released. :)
