To the lines of F3, F2 and F1 (or GP2 GP3). If not that what about rated in engine size?
Make it sound less like an american baseball tier system and more actually like a racing car tier system to give it a bit more authenticity?

I quite like this idea, wouldnt mind seeing something a bit like in Project Cars how they use "Formula A/B/C" instead of "Formula 1/2/3" (now GP2 and GP3 of course).

My reservation on this suggestion is that a new player who isn't familiar with the tiers in real motorsport may find it hard to interpret with less clarity. For example, if we called them iGP3, iGP2 and iGP1 (those are the names I like the most for the idea) I could see that being quite confusing compared to the current naming system for new players.

Yes, you could add a guide to explain it, but who reads such things? Not the average player. It becomes one more thing to remember if you are a layman, which makes the game less user-friendly.

I suspect there would be licensing/copyright issues in calling it F1 etc so it has to be something generic.

But surely a new player is going to be interested in motorsport whatever kind that may be and will therefore have a basic grasp of motorsport class.
maybe something like..... iGP3 (800cc) iGP2 (1500cc) iGP1 (2000cc)
Or maybe have it on the top of the page explaining something like "iGP3, this is entry level riders racing with engines of 800cc ...blah blah blah (just a made up spiel promoting iGP3.
I dunno, anything is better than a generic American Rookie, Pro, Elite.

Yes I B. That's why I said "To the lines of" and not "Hey lets copy F1, F2, F3 verbatum!" :-)

While you are at it give the league hosts something to do each season. Have tier voting for next season changes.

Limited downforce or other area
No Fuel economy
No Tyre economy
No re-fuelling (auto full fuel economy & doubled fuel tank)
Must use 2 or 3 compounds in dry race
No tyre changing (auto full tyre economy & doubled tyre life)
No boost
No drs.
Race Distance
Something along those lines

I like those suggestions. With those and perhaps later additional choices like

Allow adjustable power/turbo blowoff valve (like push but affecting acceleration and fuel consumption quite a lot and tyre wear a little)

leagues could reproduce different eras of F1, or invent their own, to keep things fresh and interesting.

I'd prefer to not make auto fuel and tyre econ mandatory, as long as there's a choice of tyres (the league host should be able to enable tyres allowed for the different tracks, so only one (dry) choice could be possible) the managers should be able to do it manually if they want (advanced setup/strategy) but there's the risk to fail and retire if fuel runs out. Then tyre life and tank size factors could be a general options, although the game should grey out any choice that would make it impossible to finish a race on any track.

If we had iGP 1,2 & 3 will we be able to join a league and select anyone of them to join and at the end of the season can the 3 people from say iGP 2 jump to 1 or 3 to have more players without having to wait on promotions or relegations?
