Mid-week we rolled out an update to improve latency across the service and reduce instances of "freezing" or "lag". Reports a couple of weeks ago indicated that it was getting quite disruptive in some races, and we hope the situation is improved now.
What has been your experience as of yesterday? Are things improved?

HI Jack,
Not looking good. There was a MASSIVE freeze in the British Racing League tonight, at least 3 of us noticed. It was easily 30seconds plus, but recovered on its own.
Again in The F1 World Championship league too, but not as long.

Today in MJL it was back to normal. I just remember one small stop of 2-4 secs and a little bit of rubberbanding but nothing serious.

Is it only the beta or should the stable build have also improved?
One big freeze (20secs plus) and a couple of smaller ones in the Brazil race id=703950
I'm running stable build at 'very low' quality with no sound.

2 big ones this morning in "Champions League".
Very sure the simulator even rolled back half a lap? They both happened as I was pitting, and each time it rolled back that I was on my way into pits again.

Well, this proves it isn't server-related, but we have identified another issue within the service and I'll keep you posted for when we've applied a patch.

Good to know your zeroing in on the cause.
Most important thing for me is to know that if I leave the viewer alone it recovers and you dont risk your driving doing something stupid with your KERS.

We've just applied another update, and we believe it's more likely that this is the root cause of the problem. The server upgrades will have improved the service too, so things should be a lot better now. Let us know if they aren't.

Am I to interpret the silence as good news? :P
Jamie R medal 5000 7 years 308 days ago

One big freeze in "Everyone Welcome" Elite tier tonight in Malaysia. A few people experienced it at the same time so not my setup.
I also noticed the viewer was pretty jerky for most of the race using Firefox. Switched to Edge but that didn't seem to improve the situation. I don't know if it's relevant but...
According to Microsoft speed test app:
31 ms network delay
Download 41.75 Mbps
Upload 4.72 Mbps

Smooth as butter in our race today.

Last couple of races the race viewer was getting a little sticky. Today, right a critical time it completely froze and froze my machine. Image was frozen but the sound continued. It happened right at a critical part of the race for me. Pushing 100% just before a pit stop. So by the time I booted my machine back up, my tyres were fried and it cost me the race or at least a podium.
Happened during World Racing Championship League race on Tuesday morning (Turkey)
Using a Firefox browser on a Mac. Has been OK till now.

Is this in Firefox, as with the HQ issue you just reported? Maybe there is something up with your Firefox installation if so. Seems like JavaScript issues abound, since both rely heavily on it.
A freeze which forced you to reboot the whole machine is not related to the servers, but could be related to the JavaScript code having a memory leak or something. That would have been a local client issue either way, not something everyone else saw.

Yes, in Firefox. Safari won't run race viewer. Never had the problem before with Firefox as far as completely freezing. Any suggestions as to what I should do on my end?
Jack Basford medal 5549 CEO & CTO 7 years 300 days ago
I would make sure you have the latest version of Firefox, and try running it again with no addons or extensions enabled and see if the problems persist. Given that most people run it in Firefox without problems (including me) I have to suspect something like that.
