Chaps,

How do I figure out how long my tires will last?
In the last race of the previous season, I got 13% tire wear for each qualifying lap on super softs.
100 / 13 = 7.69
So I guess that means I can only do 7 laps on a set of super softs

Yet during the race one of my competitors pitted for the first time in the 11th lap while running super softs.

Looking at the tire wear meter, I could see that my tires could take 1 maybe 2 laps more which leads me to believe that my assumption (using tire wear numbers during qualifying) isn't too far off.

Is there a better way to figure this stuff out?
It kinda cost me the race this time and I think it's one of the last things I am doing wrong.

The method you used I think is fine Mark, you just forgot 13% was push level 3, it could very well of been 12% or 11% on push level 1.
Other thing is the wear rate lowers with each lap as the tyre beds in. 9 laps at 11% 99% of the tyres means they would last 11-12 laps, but the last few laps they wouldn't be fast, the soft tyre with 8% wear would of bypassed them that where pushing the limits of the super-softs.

On paper everything looks straight forward but it never is, you have to account for fuel loads, the weather and differences in the car designs. Trying to go a different way than everyone else is either a stroke of genius or a big fat flop, cat & mouse racing you will get DRS, trying to break the mould, chances are you will be on your own and very rarely get DRS.

Tyre wear isn't the same every lap, if you graph a previous race it's a curve and not a straight line.

For instance, my tyre wear for Japan on SS was 16% first lap reducing to 5% on lap 8. If my maths are correct, that makes each lap around 85% of the wear of the previous lap.

The easiest way is to look at your wear from previous seasons and go from there.

Oh aye!! not as detailed as the race viewer though. SS started at 16% and finished with a 4% rating

Now, if someone could explain to me how to to review my tyre wear stats from previous races...

Click on league, then on a previous race to get the results. Then click on the finish time of one of your drivers.

Is that what you meant or did you mean previous seasons?

Hi all. James, was your push level constant though or did you lower it as the tyres heated up? Does push levels effect the wear much?
