Hi -

So I started playing a couple days ago and have yet to actually race because my league starts in a few days. I played another motorsport manager game that I thought I was going to like, but it ended up being really annoying because you had all these "boosts" that you could purchase with premium currency, etc. When this boost was active, your car was easily a good 40% faster than everyone else. It proved to be too "arcadey".

I saw something about this game having boosts as well. Can someone give me a run down of how they work? Just don't want to get all invested if it's going to be too similar to this other game I'm thinking of.

Thanks

Clayton

Hi Clayton,

"boosts" are like an extra performance increase which give you a temporary increase in performance, they are activated at the start of lap 3 with everyone getting a full batteries worth, you then then have to use it strategically as they will never refuel therefore you have a choice of either using it all at the start and overtaking everyone and be helpless trying to defend later on or use it later in the race to overtake your competitors then. The amount of "boost" you get is dependent on the level of your technology HQ so you will never be able to purchase any extra unless your are indirectly purchasing HQ upgrades although this is again dependent on your manager level so again it is restricted in that regard. When you start to control the race live what I said would make more sense its hard to explain without physically showing you the live race viewer.
I hope this helps and good luck in your first race.

I know which game you're talking about, and no, this is nothing like that.

When you see the word "Boost" in iGP it's simply a user-friendly term for the "KERS" system you might be familiar with from F1. We gave it this name in the English translation simply to make it more approachable for mobile app players who aren't fans of motorsport, and who might not know what "KERS" refers to.

The KERS starts out full and does not recharge. Upon later upgrades to the tech center does it recharge a little per lap or something? Also, what tech center level is DRS unlocked?

KERS / Boost has a longer life with each upgrade, whereas DRS gets more effective, giving more speed / acceleration with each upgrade.

DRS upgrades should be available alongside boost upgrades. What are you seeing?

DRS and KERS are available from level 1 but can only be improved from within your technology building which is available from level 5.

KERS doesn't recharge but the amount available increases significantly when you get to higher levels. At evel 1 it's like a wet fart but at level 17 it's more like a full blown guiness and vindaloo followthrough.

I guess at level 20 the KERS goes from a vindaloo to a phal.

Phal may be level 18/19, I'm thinking 20 would be Picolax...

It's fairly lengthy but the series of posts from Blu-tone I think explain why Picolax should be a higher level than phal ;-)

Some of them posts haha! phal would have a delay whereas the picolax sounds like a rather instant mess. picolax definatelly deserves to be level 20! I can't wait to get my dose of picolax. I am currently only level 13 and at best I am at the level of madras in terms of KERS. I am also wondering if blu-tone is you ;) if so then what a commical experience haha!

@Alex I'm very relieved to say blu-tone isn't me.

@Clayton, getting back on topic, Sometimes you need to boost (kers) both drivers at the same time. On PC, key s will boost first driver and k will boost second so you can hold them both down together.

(don't know how it works on mobile devices)

Using the viewer in mobile browser you can press both KERS buttons at the same time. It might be just tricky to hit them both in the heat of battle because it's always a compromise between GUI size and the ability to see at least something of the track there which, at least in my case, often results in controls that rather fit the size of a rather pointed stylus than my fingers.

I suppose it's similar in the app but I don't know. I prefer to run the game in the browser on mobile as well because I find it generally more useable and versatile.
