I am a bit confused about how practice, setup and startegy works. Let me give you an example.

Let's say that when I do the practice it is raining. So, obviously I choose the I or W tyres and adjust my setup and strategy for the race according to the results obtained during the practice. If however, on the day of the race it is sunny, than I assume that the setup and strategy are not good as these were based for a rainy day. Ok, one can argue that I can still change the strategy by putting SS, S, H or M tyres but I cannot change the setup (which was based on I or W tyres) as I had finished my practice.

So, if the above is correct, I suggest that the practice, setup and strategy can be done only on the day of the race and if the weather changes again once the practice was done, there should be a specific time to do some practice again according to the present weather conditions. Thanks.

There are 2 possibilities currently:
-You're there before the race to finalize your setup just in time according to the conditions and made sure you have the needed tools like enough laps left
-You buy the ideal setup that makes sure you're on the right setup.

I doubt there will be a change here since it's one of the few possibilities where people might buy tokens for because of the added convenience. The amount provided by the sponsors are enough to cover the every day token needs after all.

Thanks Daniel for your prompt feed back. I think the first possibility is the more applicable, however, one has to be present before the race.

On the other hand, what's happen if I do the setup and strategy for a warm and hot day and on the day of the race it is raining and I have no time to change the setup because I am not following the race live?

If you choose to spend 3 tokens on ideal set up the settings will change to reflect the changing weather conditions. However this can get expensive because it costs 6 tokens each race if you want to do both drivers in a two car team.
To be honest, I've seen managers with dry settings on a wet track and vice versa and although I haven't studied lap times in detail it didn't appear to make a great deal of difference.

Thanks Kevin for your reply and explanation.

So if this is the case re your 2nd paragraph, than the weather forecast is not helpful and can be eliminated. To be honest, I always took consideration of the weather as this depends on the type of tyre I use.

Thus for the future can the type of weather be taken into consideration? I am no programmer at all, and so I don't know if this can materialise. I am just loving playing this game even though it is very difficult, but I take it as a challange.

The type of tyre is very important... If it rains, as soon as the track becomes wet you will need inters and as the standing water becomes deeper you will need full wet tyres. The ideal setup button will not adjust your tyre strategy, only your suspension, ride height and wing settings.
You can adjust your tyre strategy in the "Next Race/Strategy" tab. E.g. If it starts raining, at X mm pit and fit Inters and if it stops raining for X laps pit and fit Softs.
When I said in my previous post that the settings "appear" to have little effect on performance I was talking about the car settings NOT the tyres being used.
If you try running slicks in the wet or wet weather tyres in the dry you will lose an enormous amount of time.

More intense Practice Sessions are needed.

I would like to be able to send the car out and do a tyre test like above 15 laps on SS around spa! clearly they are M tyres painted red to look like SS lol

I found the right set up in just 2/3 laps (according to my drivers), so you should not spend coins but you have to be patient. Eheh
