I would like medium tires to be a bit faster compared to hards. There seems to be so few opportunities to use medium tires because over longish stints they don't perform any better than hards. That is, for three or four laps they are .2 to .3 faster than hards, after that hards are faster. And you can't rely on the data you get in practice to apply in any reasonable way to the race. The desired change might be accomplished by changing the temperature profile of the mediums so that they could be pushed one level higher.

Test it out a bit more in the next race, they should be fast enough!
12, 12, 12, 12, 8 send one driver out on M and the other on H if the temp is 27-29 H will be PL2 and M PL1
Oh you are 50% lol ok do the 4 stops anyways and see how it goes

The problem with doing four 7 lap stints is that it won't show how the speed drops off in longer stints. I'm sure the meds would be better in that scenario but if I ran twelve lap stints the meds would be slower for 7 out of the 12 laps even though their wear was only at 66%. I could easily get 14 laps on meds and still have 50% tires but I only get 3 laps at the .3 per lap increase over hards seen in practice then about 2 laps at .15 faster then the next 9 laps hards are either as fast or faster than meds. If I could bump the push to 2/5 then the meds might be useful.

What you see in practice is the same as you will see in the race then, if you only have 7 lap stints doing 4 stops in 50%
Practice is PL3 Because of temp fuel and wear will be different than actual used in the race.
SS, S & M will have less wear and fuel on PL1
H will have less wear & fuel on PL2
Also I telling you PL1 & PL2 but H will run on PL3 for a few laps before changing to PL2 same with M they will run on PL2 for a few before going to PL1 all depends on you if you want optimal temp tyres or let the temp build up and cause extra wear.

Regardless of your strategy, hards are better than mediums in every respect. It has been that way since the "nerf OP meds" update during last year's beta test. You can push harder on H, H lasts longer, and H performs better in hot conditions.Yet the base pace of M and H is virtually the same, and H even works well below 20C temps. If not, then I argue hards actually have better base pace.
I use every tyre except meds right now. Though apart from the under-performance of meds, the tyre balance has been pretty good.

The length of stint matters, no point in pushing the tyre more than is needed, the reason M tyres where tuned down was because they where over powering..
Nearly all tests in beta where based on 4 stop strategies. That is why I told Dee to try 4 stopping one driver on H & the other on M lol

On major problem we could argue is Rookie & Pro is easier than Elite to manage tyres
We where all Low level managers in beta so the problems of tyres temps we can see and have now where not seen in beta with faster higher ranking cars and drivers by us the players only the dev team would of had the privilege of testing maxed out cars and drivers late at night on their own.

Play half race distance leagues here. Still, I think if you look at most of the top managers, especially champion elite managers in the top leagues, they never use meds at all now.

James Greer medal 5000 7 years 259 days ago
Ok well here is hall of fame top manager lap times compared to me no where near the top.

James Greer medal 5000 7 years 259 days ago
Med tyres using roughly the same stint should be faster :P

Dee Oldham medal 5000 7 years 259 days ago
I will run meds on one and hards on the other at Malaysia since I've got nothing to lose. I don't know if my drivers are even enough to compare but if the weaker one starting further back on hards manages to finish within 3 secs of the stronger one on meds l will think my point is valid.
By the way, I'm not asking for much, just a slight tweak. .1 sec per lap or push level one higher. And I agree that the tires are almost perfect except for this one small thing.

James Greer medal 5000 7 years 259 days ago
Temp picks the push level though, if weather was to go wrong, M would be PL3 & H PL4 & most likely everyone would chuck on S or SS because of such a low temp.

Well I would estimate that mediums were marginally faster in that race. Late in the stints my two drivers put in almost exactly the same lap times. The mediums were faster for about 7 out of 14 laps and even the rest of the time. the main advantage for mediums was a better starting position resulting in my running in third for a while just before the pit stop because those others on hards took that long to catch up to me. Still there is very little use for mediums and I would get more use out of them if they were only one tenth faster. Surely that would not make mediums dominate again.

James Greer medal 5000 7 years 258 days ago
2 stops on medium would of work out better then, as they couldn't cope too well with 14 laps. Falls close to my prediction: S 7 laps, M 9laps & H 12 laps.

James i have a wuestion for you.. Mifht be something you dont tell but i run my tires down to roughly 75% is that a good rough number?

James Greer medal 5000 7 years 258 days ago
they are all rough numbers when it comes to me, hehehe
that above is below 50% tyre life in Malaysia even for soft tyres I have not took any tyre past 64% in a long time.
I best point out I have not won a race in a long time too :P I'm still testing things out, odd time I'm in the points most of the time I'm not

Jason Stafford medal 5000 7 years 258 days ago
I hear you.. Well i have found with little testing i have done the 75% works well for me at this point and time.. I dont have any manager over level 7.. I think one will be level 8 soon.. But also not in any competetive elite leagues either.. My two level 7 accounts are in pro and i was beating guys with better cars and higher level toeward end of last season.. New season starts today

James Greer medal 5000 7 years 258 days ago
That's one thing I dont get, same strategy used in pro as elite yet pro car is faster until you reach round 4 and the elite car going by colour coding in equal and is faster

Jason Stafford medal 5000 7 years 258 days ago
That is really weird.. I have not been in an elite league si haveny got to mess with that.. I just assumed that tire strategy played bigger part and has to be more strategic
