I am not sure if this should be listed as a bug or a suggestion?

I am sure there was previously a block in place to stop the use of certain words in team and league names etc?

I just noticed a number of teams and leagues with words the probably arent appropriate, specially considering the growing popularity of the game.

I think there's a censor for comments and posts, but none for leagues, teams, names, and staff. I can type shit and it'll be censored (I actually typed it and not censored myself), but if I search it in the game, it'll bring up results.

If French Connection, a UK-based global retailer and wholesaler of fashion clothing, accessories and homeware (also branded as FCUK).
Rang up Jack and said I would be interested in having a sponsor in the game, it means he would have to say no, because it's inappropriate and lose out on income just because people would interpret it the wrong way. It's just really sad.

I don't think censoring profanity is a bad thing. Just take a look at all the profanity you can hear from pre-teens and teens online in console game, ha. Plus, if Jack's going to be able to get the app rated kid-friendly on the App and Play stores, he cannot afford to look over censoring profanity. On the flip side, the media is moving to a place where it isn't censored as much as it used to be but everything else is still currently slow to catch up.

The APP would have to be changed to pegi 12, if he adds in the ability to run the front-jack man over when entering the pits. Life rules are just so annoying.

Honestly though the world is getting too soft.
Years ago, used to be able to bounce up a ladder and paint the fascia boards and soffits and guttering.
Now days you have to use a safety harness plus a scissor lift or build a scaffolding, just to paint the upstairs window sills on the outside of the house.
What is the world coming to?

Sorry, I have to disagree on a number of bits. FCUK is an establisted brand and accepted as such. But creating a team with the name "f**k off racing" is just being obnoxious and rude.

I have the most foul mouth you could imagine... in person... but in situations like this, specially a game that is being aimed at as wide a group as possible I think that the use of language like that in team or managers names is inappropriate. It is adds nothing to the game.

@Blunion i had to edit my post to remove uc from f**k, but you didnt for s**t?
**had to edit a second time for sh*t also.

I also think for its easier to have a blanket ban, because were do you draw the line.

Is it OK so have the word sh*te, an irish take on sh*t, or ok to say f**k but not c**t (i actually find that word unbelievable offensive), but other people use it like water.

@Jame Yes, for many things this word is gone soft, but I think in this particular case its justified...
People are now more wrapped up in cotton wool. I had a Sky engineer refuse to go up the side of my house to fix my dish without drilling 8 holes in the side of it... Didnt seem to see the logic that he had to climb the ladder to drill the holes... so why not just climb the ladder and do the work....

But on the language side of things, I dont think its the same. I am online a long time and its only as time goes by that certain accepted norms are changing for the worse, language being allowed in ways that I just dont think is appropriate. The word f**k is part of my every day vocabulary, but like many things, it has a time and place and a way to be said so its not just cursing and being rude for the sack of it. But thats just my 2 cent.

Hi Jack,

Any opinions on this?

i think Shite still works. At least it does in the race viewer...

edit - it does here too.

The most important point i think is that we want this game accessible for young people, so offensive/swear words really need blocking out.

Well I think its going to be impossible to manage whats said in the race viewer, in the same way as you cant manage whats said live on XBOX etc.

But those mediums (xboxlive etc) do have controls in place over the types of usernames and account names etc you use.

I seem to remember on old 'webchats' that there were ways of auto-censoring swear words in live chatrooms, so there must be something?

Not sure if there was an automatic filter on teams and leagues but I do know there was a crack down on (driver) names some years ago as some found it necessary to go way over the line.

There are still some odd drivers around dating from the old iGP when you could change driver names but that doesn't go much further as Poppie ENIS and such. But since you now can't change driver names anymore, those will fase out eventually.

Do agree on at least a crackdown on offensive team/league names but that's already possible if it's reported.

You can change drive names still. Select the driver, select the 3 dots and edit. It costs 5 coins to rename and change nationality.
