A tie in points

The league i participated has an exciting season which ends with equal number of points for constructor race (and it is so close until the very last race). The question is how the game determines which team/driver won the season given a tie?

It should be whoever has the most wins, and if thats a tie then the most 2nd places, then most 3rd etc.

Unfortunately that doesnt seem to be the case. I won 7 races while the other team won 8. The game awarded my team the championship (which i think should be given squarely!)
