Hi just curious, I've seen a few drivers in my league with a weight symbol next to their name, what does this mean?

It means that these teams have a level above the tier cap (Rookie 8 and Pro 14). As a handicap to equalize performance their cars carry some extra weight depending on how many levels they are above the cap.

You might want to read the game help (at least in the browser version its the question mark icon between settings and log out), this and other good to know stuff is explained there.
