What is the best time to put on wet tyres? I mean how much high must be the level of water on the track to choose that option?

Inters are faster up until like 3mm of water.

Around 3mm or a bit more (like 3.2mm) is where the "transition point" for Inters and Wets begin.

One rule of thumb I follow is that Wets will perform better at that level of rain when they do not overheat, so it depends on the track and its temperatures as well. Also remember that Wets get in heat easier than Inters.

For example, for 3.2mm, mid-to-high 20C-30C temps in Malaysia, Inters will have better pace than Wets even if Wets qualify higher due to Wets overheating, as overheating tyres won't perform optimally; Inters in those conditions can be maintained in optimal temps. Whilst for Hungary and Singapore in similarly heavy rain, Wets will perform better as they don't overheat.
