I believe that 15 tokens to promote a young driver is very expensive, it should be cheaper.

I would not say it's expensive, but I think it should correspond to the level of the academy. If the academy is level 7 maybe it should cost 7 tokens to promote it, if it's level 17 it should cost 17 tokens (example).

The greatest advantage of the YDA is that you can get young, low-leveled 20 Talent drivers (which you should eventually aim for once your team is more developed). Young drivers mean greater gains from training and a potentially longer career, and lower driver levels mean a much lower starting salary, both great advantages as I will elaborate on below.

High level drivers, which most 20 Talent drivers are, not only have astronomical signing fees (can be 10mil + once they are around level 14 or above), but also Fernando Alonso-esque salaries (can be 1mil a race!). On the other hand, if you get a driver from the YDA, they start with a base salary of around 300k, and renewing their contracts only increase their salary by 10% each time just like any other driver in iGP (So if you renew a 300k per race contract once, their new contract pays them 330k a race. Renewed contracts last 50 races as well).

Drivers from the YDA are also young (can be as young as 17 YO), allowing you ample time to train and race them. Younger drivers also gain more from training, allowing you to level them up from level 4-5 to level 18 in relatively quick time. (18 is the max level for new iGP drivers with maxed stats for some reason, in contrast to old iGP drivers which can level up to 20)

There's also the fact that 20 Talent drivers can be hard to come by in the transfers. And even if they do come, their signing fees and salaries are generally really high due to their higher level. (Though, if you're below level 16, it is still a wise choice to get your first 20 Talent driver from the transfers as your manager level may not be quite enough to fully take advantage of the YDA. Once your manager level is higher and your YDA developed, you can switch those expensive drivers out for cheaper "home-grown" ones.)

I believe these benefits greatly outweigh the token cost of scouting and eventually hiring drivers from the YDA.

Do remember that the YDA is more of a "late-game" building to upgrade, as the chances of getting high Talent drivers from it seem to increase with the building's level, and a higher manager level allows you to train them faster and not hit the training cap before they've maxed their stats (though currently the only stat that matters is Talent anyway, followed by stamina).

I agree with that. That makes sense.
After training, if you want to heal your drivers, the more tired they are, the more tokens are needed.
If your headquarters are under construction for 5 days, it takes 25 tokens. If they are under construction for 1 day, it takes 5 tokens...
So the higher the level of the driver is, the more it costs...

Is that true? Can you get a 20 talent driver with only level 4!? :O

Ah I should reword it. The drivers you get in the YDA start out at levels 4-5. I didn't mean at YDA level 4 you could easily get 20 Talent drivers.
